A note for my new followers: my timeline is mostly full of jokes, retweeted artwork, and other opinions. I don't generally talk about politics on my main feed, as people tend to take it as an invitation to argue with me, but I do reply to the threads of like minded people to express my support.

Spooky Season `26 continues with Death Machine (1994), a film with Brad Dourif giving 110% as a cyberpunk hacker / mad scientist and a big clunky killer robot puppet. Very silly and filled with unsubtle nods and references. Pure schlock but an enjoyable little straight-to-video romp. πŸ€–πŸ€–πŸ€–πŸ€–πŸ€–/πŸ€–πŸ€–πŸ€–πŸ€–πŸ€–

Spooky Season `26 continues with a group-watch of Vampire Hunter D (1985), as chosen by the Discord community. Uneven in pacing and tone, it holds a great deal of nostalgia for a certain generation of anime fan, but Bloodlust is in every way the superior film. ⚰️⚰️.5/⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️

Spooky Season `26 viewing continues with Don't Look Now (1973), a thriller film with elements of the preternatural such as premonitions, ESP, etc. The film is influential and very anxious in tone, and it borrows a tremendous amount of production value from Venice in the Seventies. 🎈🎈🎈🎈/🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈

hamburgers are well known for being named after hamburg. so of course cheeseburgers are named after the mythical Cheeseburg

You know that song "The Boys Are Back in Town", by Thin Lizzy? It was published in 1976. It is half a century old. **hops on my penny-farthing and pedals away** 🚲🧐🎩

Spooky Season `26 viewing continues with Dark Was the Night (2014) a creature feature where a logging operation drives a cryptid into lethal proximity with a small town near the woods. Morose and mopey, the film loses points for weird color design and a ropey CG monster at the end. 🐐🐐/🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐

Spooky Season `26 viewing continues with Sugar Hill (1974), a Blaxploitation film where a young lady uses voodoo to wreak revenge on the gangsters that murdered her man in an effort to steal his nightclub. A bit sleazy, a bit sexy, interesting intersections of race, religion, and labor. 🧟🧟🧟🧟/🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟

Don Pedro Colley, the actor who plays Baron Samedi, is clearly having tremendous fun with the role and he leaves no scenery un-chewed. Marki Bey also brings a fun energy to her vengeful schemes in the titular role as Diana "Sugar" Hill. Delightful performances.

and it runs backwards, which is the lovely part: humans gender ships from outside, as a courtesy to a hull. here the ship genders everyone back from inside β€” she files the whole human world under the only category her own existence makes natural.
