Last day! NZ National restricted general roll voting regulations for the first time in 40 yrs To reporters please don’t repeat spin- the change won’t speed up counting - And let’s not shrug & say just 2% fewer voters enrolled It’s 300,000 NZers prevented from voting That’s an entire NZ town

This is a brilliant article. “How to vote? In my view, if your electorate has a progressive candidate who could win, vote for them. But whatever else you do, party vote Green. It’s not just that there’s so much at stake, although there is. It’s that this is a moment of so much opportunity.” #nzpol

All Hipkins should have said You’re distracting from the big issues all people in New Zealand have a story to tell and we are here to listen to all people If pushed- he replies Key & Muldoon did it That’s why he’s not a leader leaders can explain a complex issue simply and he couldn’t

According to legend, it’s 31 years to the day since the Financial Times killed one of Britain’s finest poets? They didn’t mean to. It’s just that Gavin Ewart was 79, and the day before they’d bought him a lunch that involved enough booze to fell an ox. A glorious story, but is it true...?

It's absolutely impossible to express how much this means and how unbelievable it seems.

Heat waves become heat storms as the planet warms. Better plan for a hotter future, wherever you live. Meanwhile: where's the climate emergency in NZ's election debates? #nzpol

Supersized heat waves used to be rare. No longer. A Reuters data-driven examination of global temperatures reveals the emergence of what we call heat storms. They now swarm the planet, upending life around the world. reut.rs/4zBUXtM

Sixty years, tomorrow. They gave the man in charge a knighthood. They made the local community pay for the remembrance garden. No-one held to account. I always think of the dinner lady, Nansi, who shielded five kids with her body and died in the process but they all lived. #Aberfan

And this is our periodic reminder that billionaires serve no useful economic, social, or cultural function. If billionaires didn’t exist, there wouldn’t be the slightest negative impact on our country or our people #nzpol

26 Billionaires in NZ. Top 150 wealthiest individuals and families hold a combined wealth of $129 billion. Their wealth has DOUBLED from $60b just 10 years ago. But we are loosing our fucking shit about a wealth tax. Cry me a fucking river.

Sorry, I'll explain. We currently react to inflation by reducing the disposable income of spenders so that demand falls and unemployment goes up. We use a bufferstock of unemployed people to keep workers desperate, so wages are suppressed and we don't get a feedback loop (wage 🔄 prices) [🧵 1/n]

Simply the best socio-economic policy anyone can vote for this election. If I was splitting hairs, I would say that the six months wait is about six months too long, but it's still a great start.
