We must expect that Meta's interference is happening in other elections around the world *right now*. This isn't just a one-off. Meta has proved repeatedly they are committed to advancing far-right agendas worldwide, are serial liars, and are flagrantly indifferent to the dismantling of democracies.

watching those numbers pop out is quite cool.

Digital Brain@yourdigitalbrain.bsky.social

A quirky memory trick builds each digit from straight strokes, so the number matches how many segments or angles it has. 1 takes one stroke, 2 takes two, and 0 is just a circle.

RNZ asking the Sensible Sentencing Trust and TPU for comment on the new attack billboards is yet more evidence they learned nothing from Dirty Work. These are bad-faith PR orgs and RNZ is willfully running cover for them.

The lessons from Brazil and Serbia? Don't concede one inch of ground to the far right. Don't appease. Don't triangulate. Don't grovel. Don't say they have "legitimate concerns". Mobilise your base, and fight them with all the democratic means at your disposal.

It need not cost those hundreds of millions of dollars if you bring in an overseas partner who knows rail and knows stations, and knows human experience on a 35 year concession That partner is called Japan (and they are waiting)

OK Auckland, I know it’s been a while but you’ve driven in the rain before and you will have to do it again so don’t freak out, it’ll be ok. And if you don’t like driving in the rain we have a few alternatives these days so you don’t have to! 🚌⛴️🚂

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

RIP Walter Koenig. Of all his moments on Star Trek, one of his finest was accurately portraying an officer stuck doing bridge duty while massively hungover (Star Trek VI)

TPU ads running in front of autoplay videos on NZME website - which are again AI generated Hipkins - REALLY feels like it shouldn't be allowed. Media can't keep getting away with claiming "objectivity" for verbatim reporting PR lines, or refusing to attack the rightwing, while this incentive exists

Wait, hidden for intolerance? Rully BS?

Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

How brave of the NZ Herald to publish this editorial the day after voter enrolment closed, when it can have literally zero impact. (And it's *still* not criticising the government for changing the law to make it harder to vote, it's just the usual "better civic education" pleasantries.)

If they were genuinely concerned with the number of special votes from late enrolment, the govt could have mandated auto enrolment. If administrative data is so good it can replace the census* then we can auto enrol. #nzpol *a govt claim, not mine

Foxes@foxylustygrover.bsky.social

Look, if all they had changed was just enrolling and voting on polling day that would have been one thing, but stopping enrolling TWO WEEKS before election day is outrageous and even previous Nats who stopped prisoners voting had not taken such an outrageous step We should be angry out loud! #NZPol

I swear to god if I hear another person talk about “the mainstream media” while mainlining disinfo slop online all day, I’m going to lose my mind

The only thing I know about the Cheesecake Factory came from a guy in Honolulu who told me how to avoid the huge queue. Ask if you can sit at a table in the bar area while you wait and then once you’re in ask for the menu. They will feed you in the bar and you won’t wait 45 minutes for a table.
