I’m in a Russian hacker Telegram chat and this case came up, two of the hackers present began to discuss another case where a crime forum admin was picked up by the FSB. “They didn't touch the CIS in principle there, and that was the rule, but they closed it anyway.” Translation in alt text below.

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

FYI, Academia.edu has changed its terms of service to give an irrevocable worldwide license for anything uploaded to its site to be used for generative AI. I do not consent to this and have pulled all my papers.

There is so much going on in the Draft Cybercrime Law that I can't do it justice: - fortifying real-name registration - threatening VPNs - China's first penalties for possession of CSAM - cyberviolence protections - New offenses for enabling cybercrime (including converting gains to crypto)

A strange find from the Epstein files: A hacker named Vincenzo Iozzo shares with Epstein a rumor that Peter Thiel was "bankrolling" the neo-Nazi white supremacist hacker troll known as "weev." Conversation is about financial strategies and "currencies." www.justice.gov/epstein/file...

🧵I watched Forbidden Planet last night. Hadn't seen it for decades. A super-intelligent race is destroyed, despite its technological advances, by its own subconscious primitive fears and greed, 'the monster of the ID'. Hashtag AI, etc. Anyway, couldn't help but notice how the film influenced others.

it's so funny to see America's health insurance companies be like "look. If there's one thing we love it's denying you care. but we ran the numbers - and we cannot BELIEVE we're saying this - and it's cheaper for us to just pay for the vaccines than deal with you going to the ER."

Dr. Vin Gupta@vinguptamd.bsky.social

Regardless of the disgraceful nonsense we will likely hear from this administration in the coming days on vaccine “recommendations,” Americas healthcare insurers issued a joint statement tonight saying coverage for Covid and flu shots will remain unchanged from prior years. Speaks for itself.
