Last year, miHoYo copied my puzzle game Ouros in Zenless Zone Zero. Because they are a recognized, billion-dollar studio and my game isn't well known, some people are now assuming that their version is the original, and mine is the clone. I hope this video clears that up.

I researched a dozen ways of putting Godot's new 'game embedding' option in the run bar. I landed on a clean and extendable proposal to improve the entire run bar instead: github.com/godotengine/... feedback always welcome! #godotengine

Godot represents the future where the engine belongs to you and you're free to do whatever you want in the most exciting creative medium to have ever existed in the history of humanity

TL;DR Unity -> Godot transition: after 13 years in unity, it took me 4-6 weeks of getting adjusted, and now i’ll never go back. it has quirks, like other engines. there’s bugs. but it’s free, basically equally capable, and well reported issues get fixed quicker than in unity (sometimes within hours)

#Godot 4.6 is out, and all about your flow! This release puts you and your workflow first with a new theme, flexible docks, and dozens of UX improvements. And Jolt Physics by default, revamped IK, better reflections, and more. Less wrestling with UI. More making games. godotengine.org/releases/4.6

Prototyping a grid-based 2D puzzle game using Godot's GridMap. So far so good, instead of designing the levels in code/config, it's possible to design them in the editor instead and then reconstruct the grid representation

The new godot UI theme has been merged and is on its way to be the new default! I consider godot to be one of the most important software projects of our time and it's a huge privilege to be able to contribute to it. Happy to see it grow and be used for increasingly ambitious games and apps ❤️

#GodotEngine 4.5 has finally arrived! 🎉 With this new release, we made meticulous efforts in order to amplify what is possible to do with our engine, guided by our goal of making gaming and game development for everyone! godotengine.org/releases/4.5/

Practicing some modelling to a reference in #Godot. Mostly lit using emissive lights, but couldn't quite get the glow near the ceiling to be strong enough. Also not enough blue tinge compared to reference. #indiegame #gamedev #leveldesign #godot

I've been prototyping new puzzle levels for #Gridfall, this one took a bit of adjusting but I'm happy with the final layout. It looks deceptively simple to solve but there are a few gotchas. #indiedev #gamedev #puzzlevideogame

New mechanic - proximity sensors (& cubes)! They interact nicely with the gravity shifts to create interesting puzzles. This level is one of the first ideas I had, will be prototyping more challenging layouts. #screenshotsaturday #indiegame #gamedev #puzzlegame

A playthrough of one of the new levels. Already had 1 playtester break it in 2 different ways and another telling me it was too easy #screenshotsaturday #indiegame #gamedev #puzzlegame #godot

Reworked the deadly/safe fall indicator, based on feedback. It is no longer combined with the reticle, which confused players. To be honest, still considering just removing it and let players just try and see! #indiegame #gamedev #puzzlevideogame #godot

New reticle! It not only shows which surfaces you can switch gravity to, but also lets you know if drop is safe or fatal, if you look down. #screenshotsaturday #indiegame #gamedev #godot #liminal #puzzlegame

Few people have asked for a game in my art style and I've actually been cooking since November 2024 :) Here are some scenes from the slice of NYC where the game will take place. #gamedev #indiegame #UE5 #UnrealEngine

This level is called The Square, as it features, well, a large illuminated square. Which lighting looks better - horizontal vs vertical? #PuzzleGame #indiegame #gamedev #puzzlevideogame #leveldesign

Added particles effects+postprocessing. Considering a few variations in the space fold visuals. Which version seems best? #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiedev #thinkygames #madewithunity

Now I've added animated the tiles moving into the fold and feels so much better. The big chunky particles as the blocks crash into the fold are really satisfying. The speed is calculated to always make this .4 secs. So it won't take too much time. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame

Sometimes less is more. Tried to make this puzzle idea work by adding more pieces. The level ended up a confusing, joyless mess. Paring it back brought out the main elements while still challenging the player. #leveldesign #solodev #godot #indiegame

I focused on the player vistas too, making sure the goal is visible right from the start. The large octagonal structure was stealing focus from the light bridge, so it had to go. It may find itself in a different level. #leveldesign #gamedev #gridfall #indiegames

Early playtesting showed players losing track of which way to go after several gravity shifts. Next step - experiment with subtle ways to signpost. #ScreenshotSaturday #gamedev #indiegame #gravity #playtest #Gridfall

🎮 Working on a Game Dev Starter Pack for Bluesky! Thought it’d be nice to share a list of devs, artists & other cool folks worth following. First part in the comments! — more coming soon! 🔵Tell me if you want to be in too, or if you are on the list and don’t want to be in — please let me know!🔵

Done! Implemented a tutorial level to explain the core mechanic. Hope I got the mood lighting right. One step closer to playtesting. #indiegames #godot #liminal #gamedev

Gravity shifts can be disorientating and nauseating, so I've added a "down" indicator, plus a reticle that also highlights which surfaces the player can shift onto. #gamedev #indiegames #puzzle #solodev

Found inspiration for a puzzle level when passing the Royal College of Art. The building’s first two floors are offset, creating an interesting wall-walking section. #screenshotsaturday #gamedev #indiegame
