I'm setting up backup for the For You database and I'm trying to do a restore from the backup on the hard-drive to the nvme. This eats up all disk IO and makes the feed super slow. I should get it back up in 20 minutes.

@spacecowboy17.bsky.social you've probably heard this already from a bunch of others, but For You is frozen up, is everything OK?

Finally switched my wm to Niri (in part due to looking at which parts of the ecosystem were so far staying away from DHH's crusade to reshape the community). Niri is REALLY good, especially for what is AFAICT a passion project! Deserves attention and grassroots sponsorship. github.com/niri-wm/niri

Oh, nice! We're working on lexicons around packages and releases for a new version of ecosystem ci. Would you be up for a call next week to share notes? We're thinking of having a neutral domain for these shared by npmx, e18e, sifa, and other projects.

the harness i made for @niri.pet in my opinion did get a tiny bit bloated and probably doesn’t need to be 12k lines of code. meanwhile openclaw is at 2.8 MILLION LINES OF TYPESCRIPT

We've been monkey-patching JS libraries for observability for too long now. It's fragile, ESM-breaking, and runtime-locked. So we started adding TracingChannel support upstream in 44 libraries 👀 Check out our latest blog post to see how and why: blog.sentry.io/fixing-javascript-observability/

blog.sentry.ioFixing JavaScript observability, one library at a timeSentry is adding TracingChannel support to 44 JavaScript libraries upstream, replacing fragile monkey-patching with native observability that works across all runtimes.

The docs should be clearer that it's non-standard then. And maybe even note that it was shipped despite objections from Mozilla, Apple, Microsoft, and misrepresented developer interest to get LGTMs.

It's so sad. I know it wasn't perfect when I was there either, but at least I can say everything I shipped had 2+ other vendors supporting, and I'd publicly complain about Google stuff I disagreed. From what I hear, they're not allowed to do that now.

Node saw a golden opportunity and they seized it correctly! Thrilled that explaining LTS releases will be so simple moving forward. Beautiful work! 🎊🎉

Wes@notwes.bsky.social

The hidden gem is that @nodejs.org majors and LTS cycles got WAY easier to understand: 2026 -> v26 2027 -> v27 2028 -> v28 ... Aall of them go LTS for 18 months meaning each major is supported for 2 years. The new graphic tells the best story here: nodejs.org/en/blog/anno...
