It’s interesting how over the last 100 years or so human advancement has on the one hand made the experience of being human much more comfortable (e.g. medical breakthroughs) but on the other hand has massively endangered the planet and I fear, with social media and AI, is endangering the very (1)

essence of being human. Sadly as a species we don’t seem intelligent enough to interpret where lines are crossed and inhibit usage where it is dangerous. Greed seems to be the trait that drives us beyond any other. I fear the end result will be our self created extinction.

Talking of advancements I just realised Bluesky auto numbers your posts when you reply to your own messages 🤦‍♀️

Counterpoint: CEOs should look at their companies as if they needed to provide a service for every citizen, constantly renew their social licence to operate, and plan for the long term wellbeing of the whole country. www.ft.com/content/8255...

Hopefully all the newspapers that were castigating Meghan Markle for keeping her father away from his grandchildren and lamenting the deep distress this was causing him, will now be offering her an apology?! That will happen right?!

If anyone can spare even the tiniest of amounts to help us get this kittie to its new home that would be so much appreciated

In 2025 I rescued a cat from the streets. He was in a horrific condition. He’s been nursed back to health thanks to the kindness of a good friend. We’re now fundraising to cover the costs to send him to his new home in the UK. Even the smallest of amounts would be appreciated gofund.me/f2cb9b4a9

Asylum seeking people don’t have the freedom to work, they don’t even have the freedom to shop using cash or choose where to shop, in temp accommodation they don’t have the freedom to cook or choose their own food - honestly this headline is batshit

Jim Ratcliffe can get in the bin. Maybe the UK might be in a better state if wealthy people put their money back into the system instead of going to Monaco? Or perhaps they could donate some of their huge wealth to needy causes?

Instead Jim the Rat Ratcliffe blames immigrants and the lack of exploitation (exploitation that he hugely financially benefits from) of N.Sea oil. Jim can get in the North Sea and sink as far as I’m concerned

Just look at the glee on Nigel Farage’s face as he watches a Piddington resident cry about the overt racism she, her Caribbean heritage husband, and their two children have felt in the village during the referendum. Time and again he’s showing us exactly who he is.

Pale Blue Dot (1994) On it, everyone you ever heard of... The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant,

every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor & explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.

... Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. — Carl Sagan, Cornell lecture in 1994 A little perspective for us all on this Tuesday afternoon 🌏

There’s obviously a lot going on right now, but a Russian oligarch bankrolling the wedding of the president’s son is the kind of story that should dominate headlines in any functioning political culture.

In the latest episode of humans are shit. Today I was at an ice cream parlour & a lady came in with a live Toucan in a closed transparent bag. The poor bird was clearly distressed & trying to escape. She was treating this living being like it was an accessory. It completely broke my heart.

Should I have done something to try and explain to her how negatively her actions were for the bird? I felt that most likely would not have gone well. But I also feel so guilty and sad that this poor creature is living in that way and I did nothing. I hate people. If AI wipes us out we deserve it

Oh. My. God. Who needs this. I don’t need AI recaps of my day. I lived it. If anything happened worth remembering I’ll use that thing inside my head to keep a memory of it. I’m so done with this dystopia

Let me get this right: if you're a retired vicar and peacefully hold up a sign opposing genocide, you're a terrorist. But if 1200 morons put on balaclavas and close half of Dover to stop people *escaping* genocide, police "constructively engage." Is that it? www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

The Capita civil service pension fiasco should be a much bigger scandal than it seems to be. There are people leaving work next week who won’t be paid their pensions as entitled and will have to claim Universal Credit.
