Disgruntled union democrat resists fascism and oligarchs one arcane but erudite literary post at a time. The resistance will be of shabby appearance and strong mind. I identify as Ethnically Ebullient Greek. Pronouns: try/me/motherfuckers.

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

After the helplessness of “why aren’t the Canadians/Europeans/Australians coming to help us?” wore into “We don’t deserve to be helped” wore into “fuck all the rich democrats who are abandoning the poors” - our continued endurance, our simple existence, is the best act of resistance of all.

People tell me if I don’t like Missouri, I should leave. But, it’s a nice day and the breeze is blowing. I’m sitting in the side-by-side watching my donkey get his hooves trimmed by a local farrier. I’m not leaving because of GOP authoritarinism. It’s my state too, and I’m tougher than they are…

Giving a bully your lunch money is only a temporary downpayment for future bullying. We ALL need to step up for the first amendment. By-the-way, for the record, this ex-Disney employee finds Jimmy Kimmel very talented and funny. mh

So many people feel overwhelmed while scrolling and there’s a reason for that. Bots are a large part of the problem. We’ve been breaking down how to spot them. After tracking bot groups that push narratives and attacks, we found some common traits:

right wing dude gets shot in red state completely controlled by Republicans, with zero effective gun laws, and of course, this is going to be a big problem for Democrats

If someone tells you there's nothing we can do about gun violence beyond thoughts and prayers, remind them: —Gun laws in other countries have prevented mass shootings —More guns don't make us safer —A majority of Americans want gun reform We don't have to live like this.

Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users. While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

So pleased i campaigned for this.

"Massachusetts has collected about $1.8 billion from a voter-approved surtax on the state's highest earners through the first nine months of the fiscal year." It's going to be used for education and transportation. See? Equitable taxation benefits everyone. www.wgbh.org/news/politic...

So glad to be watching this from right beneath the Pru. Boston Strong, 2025.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu: “Silence in the face of oppression is not an option. The U.S. Attorney General asked for a response by today. So here it is…Stop attacking our cities to hide your administration's failures.”

‘O Pioneers’ by Willa Cather. “He was a little country boy, and this village was to him a very strange and perplexing place, where people wore fine clothes and had hard hearts.” One way to heal America, would be to help the country and city people know and not dislike each other anymore.

Classic narcissistic boundary testing. Let Putin onto Alaska, it’s a hinterland, who the heck cares? Let Putin onto Alaska, it’s American soil, he becomes normalized on American soil. Just to not lose sight of the obvious.

Thou shalt not give Alaska to Putin.

I wish my fellow Americans could understand that America is at fault for all of this. We've been saying it for years but it's like they can't hear it. Listen to this man. Israel is only doing what it's doing because America protects it. They are using the US as cover for absolute supervillainy.

Though I usually keep the posts of what I am reading to a sentence or small paragraph, Chapt II or ‘Cannery Row’ by John Steinbeck is just two pages. An interesting portrayal of the split between ordered/straight laced proprietary and excluded human errata in a pre-fascist, pre-maga era.

Religious extremists and faith based dogmatists have hated science and rationality for a while by now. That is well documented in Western History. Should surprise no one.

the one thing i genuinely did not anticipate from this administration was its vicious, know nothing hostility to any and everything that might even be adjacent to science and scientific research. they genuinely one to destroy the entirety of the nation’s research capacity. and for what, exactly?
