I spent 1500 on a really good PC over a decade ago, and it can still run basically any modern game. The RAM-pocalypse isn't taking any prisoners, but by this point you might as well just buy PC.

IGN gives a 10/10 to a game I think will be bad: "Psh, just a bunch of shills. You can't spell ignorant without IGN." IGN gives a 10/10 to game I think will be good: "Excellent. This is proper media coverage at work."

"Sony must have cancelled PHYSINT because old-man Kojima was going overboard with the budget." Because as we all know, Sony has been sooooo responsible with game budgets recently. I'd sooner believe Sony cancelled it because it wasn't live service slop.

A generational fuck up. What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in whatever meeting Sony had that decided this. Metal Gear Solid was THE defining Playstation series for me.

PlayStation is stepping away from collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on its project PHYSINT

AFAIK it's not confirmed that Sony killing discs has anything to do with this, but given Kojima's previous comments, it didn't help. Killing discs will be the Sony equivalent to Nintendo losing Final Fantasy and most of their 3rd party support during the PS1/N64-era because their cartridges sucked.

I'm part of one of the groups in this deranged conspiracy power point, and I WISH we had the resources and willingness to conspire with 17 other organizations to impede ICE.

The U.S. government investigated left-leaning groups during the immigration crackdown in Minnesota, infiltrating group chats and obtaining financial records of organizations never accused of crimes, according to newly released documents.

Just in case anybody was still wondering why we were so against people just taking Circana (a US analytics firm) numbers for gospel. The global picture can look a lot different, as these sales percentages currently floating around for RE Requiem show.

Tired of "physical games need downloads anyway" or "discs don't have the game on them"? Here is the video to stop this nonsense: youtu.be/61m1e4Jjick Bookmark it! Share it! Post it everywhere you see misinformation about physical media!

Solar power honestly should be a right winger's wet dream. There should be a huge subculture of weirdo sovereign citizens jerry-rigging their own solar panels and electrical systems, bragging about how they don't need some government or big oil to get their power.

Sarah Taber@sarahtaber.bsky.social

Absolutely unbelievable how solar power has taken off worldwide during the Hormuz oil crisis. You don't have to hand it to him, but Trump may have done more to finally kick off a global civilization of effete librul solar users than anyone else in the West

Folks claim physical is useless because "look at The Crew". No shit. For the millionth time: We want a full game build in a proper state at the very least, preserved on disc/card. Independently usable. We object any online dependencies. We care for properties beyond tangibility.

Alisa: A very authentic classic survival horror experience with great mechanics, lore, and a uniquely creepy dollhouse setting. One of my favorite horror games and a must for anyone who loves classic Resident Evil.

Case of the Gold Idol: I went through all the cases with my GF. Some clues are tough to sift out, but it's well worth it when you get that 'aha' moment. It has a pretty unique colonial setting, and deductive gameplay that I personally thought was 'fairer' than Return of the Obra Din.

Boot Hill Heroes: A very charming old-west RPG with co-op, a wonderful OST, and an FF9 style equipment and skill system. It really sucks that the sequel ends on a cliffhanger and the third game has been in limbo for 5 years. I'm holding out hope the story will get finished, so give it money.

Crosscode: My personal favorite indie from the last decade. Genius Rube Goldberg puzzles intertwined with varied action combat, a stellar OST, a fun cast, and one of the more unique takes on a virtual world. It's DLC final boss and ending are peak. Recommended to anyone who likes action RPGs.

Pipistrello: Easily the best indie Zelda-esque game I've played. Great pixel art, dope music, and movement mechanics so good that going through a Kaizo-Mario-ass level with more pits than safe ground feels effortless. I'm enjoying Mina, but will probably end up liking Pipistrello more.

Gunpoint: One of the best stealth games I've played. A unique mix of 2-D platforming and spy trickery in a noir setting. The story is fairly throw-away, but managed to make me laugh more than once, and the ending(s) is great.

Princess Remedy: A quick but charming action RPG with a ZX Spectrum look. The original was a free Game Jam title that was good enough to get a sequel and become its own thing. If you're a 'shorter games' person, you can't go wrong with it.

Yuppie Psycho: A glorious mix of cyberpunk anime, Office Space humor, and Cronenberg body horror that is surprisingly mechanically rich for an indie horror game where you can't fight back against most enemies. 10/10, it and its DLC are must plays.

Dungeon Munchies: Has 6/10 gameplay with 10/10 writing and story. A post-apocalyptic hellscape filled with talking food, and the funniest, most earnest characters pursuing their passions even in a world of brutal authoritarianism and eldritch horrors. Simmer and Grill are GOATED.

There's a non-zero chance I would have grown into a religious RW chud if not for the gamers (and furries) I met online in my tweens. Some of them were the first openly LGBTQ people I interacted with. Gaming has rotten AF sub-sections, but it also has some of the most accepting people I've ever met.

Playing video games does not correspond to an increase in exclusionary or prejudiced beliefs Players tend to hold more inclusive cultural values than the general American public Hostile online environments driven by specific community dynamics rather than attitudes among players

Seeing the 'why doesn't Batman fix Gotham with money' discourse again. Realistically, Batman has put so much blood, sweat, tears, and money into Gotham that it should have become a utopia 10 times over. But Gotham is such a corrupt and literally cursed hellhole that even Batman can only do so much.

My fellow Gamers, I am once again here today to point out that our video games are becoming more expensive because of the trump administration. No other policy or ill-deed of theirs matters more than this one. We must rise up against the current administration so video games are affordable.

It's really weird how uppity fans get about the morality of characters in kids shows like Steven Universe and Digital Circus. I've seen heinous characters in the Punisher and Seinen manga who fans are less judgmental over.

As a younger millennial who was a toddler/preschooler during the 90s, Mix Tape probably isn't for me. But it's tough to get that mad at it for 90s nostalgia pandering when 80s nostalgia has had a choke hold on entertainment for the last 3 decades.

What this is telling me is I should make a game filled with early 2000s nostalgia pandering for younger millennials and older zoomers to gush over, that Gen Alpha can get angry at. Have it homage Zatch Bell, shonen anime, Pokemon and all of its imitators, and Toonami.

IMO the 7th console generation sucked ass and was worse than every generation after it. So if we're doing some idiotic correlation = causation argument, then I guess Anita improved the games industry.'

This post is unavailable.

'But live service and microtransactions.' Setting aside that the 7th gen was the start of these awful trends and that FF had nothing to do with said trends, yes, even with the current games industry's many issues, I'd still take it over the 7th gen.

Stuff like this is why I hate the idea of games implementing AI even for 'insignificant stuff like background assets'. Background assets are a vital part of a game's charm. A goofy parody poster of a Capcom game is still something an artist had to put thought and humanity into.
