You ever think about how before guns, a huge amount of warfare and human violence was pretty hard to distinguish from a slasher movie

imho any Democrat who doesn't support at least revoking all of Elon's security clearances and terminating all his government contracts is a traitor

Musk "helped orchestrate the systematic destruction of government programs and services over the last nearly two years,” Rep. Zoe Lofgren said.

This week on the blog - more discussion of Hearts of Iron IV and this week's topic is a heavy one, assessing how the decision not to acknowledge or address war crimes and crimes against humanity causes the game to blunder into being a 'clean Wehrmacht' myth simulator. acoup.blog/2026/10/16/t...

Good looking animation is so intrinsically expensive and labor-intensive that this is basically an unsolvable problem. The pool of people willing to actually pay for animation is just too small to support an ecosystem of good, varied, independent shows.

a cool thing about indie animation is that it's expected to save the entire industry, every show has to look better than the things the fans grew up on or it's a waste of time, there's no union to be found anywhere, no budget for any of it, and asking the audience to pay anything to watch is illegal

Still trying to understand how Napster got shut down, but Anthropic is going public and still hasn’t paid us authors yet after stealing our work.

I would be livid if I worked on a cultural moment like Adventure Time and had to tell future employers that they Just Have To Rake My Word For It, only for the fuckheads at DCSkyBrothers Channel to spill all of it within a matter of DAYS.

⚠️ A massive leak containing model sheets, puppet rigs, storyboards, and other materials from Cartoon Network shows have been spread on the internet. Fans are speculating that the Skydance merger (as Paramount’s content is very notorious of getting leaked) was the cause.

There are so many people, so many, that love film and want to dedicate their whole lives to making films, in front of the camera, behind it, in editing suites and casting rooms and makeup trailers. And that these locusts can come in and just devour the industry, take it from us all, is devastating.

Slowly coming to the conclusion that the vast majority of the populace is genuinely too stupid to be allowed a say in the political process, but it is unclear how you would exclude them without creating a mechanism to just disenfranchise anyone the regime doesn't like

There's a whole lot of non-AI physical and digital infrastructure that's going to be left fallow when Oracle goes under. I'm sure there are contingencies, but it's going to be a rough.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

Surprised more people aren’t alarmed about the financial condition of Oracle. Revenue flat for 15 years adjusted for inflation, only real growth engine is unprofitable AI data centers, future entirely tied to OpenAI and the most ambitious infra projects in history. It’s dying!

I've got very strong feelings/opinions about this and people's reactions to it, but not very coherent ones.

Women trying to succeed in Silicon Valley AI and effective altruist spaces are reporting feeling serious social pressure to attend sex parties - where people have reported being sexually assaulted, like below. Events like Aella’s “Slutcon,” which is happening again this weekend.

While the article was clearly writen as ragebait by and for right-wingers, the reason it blew up is because every leftist has lived through a variation of this scenario, probably more than once, and they're fucking sick of it.

I detest puritanism and purity culture with every fiber of my being. Sex is a beautiful expression of humanity and life, and should not be villainized. Smut artists are following a tradition as ancient as the cave paintings at Lascaux and the Venus of Willendorf. The god of the puritans is evil.

so, here's my hot take I'd actually vastly prefer skyrim's spellcasting system to Oblivion and Morrowind's system IF the bespoke spells were interesting and cool Citation: mods that added tons of cool spells to skyrim

A key point in Fahrenheit 451 is that books were banned because they made people depressed and uncomfortable. The novel's protagonist, Montag, is taken into custody after he reads a poem that makes a woman cry because she realizes the emptiness of her life.

This post conflates the interests of "MAHA moms" with the interests of their children due to their expected role within the family. And I have to say, it's kinda paternalistic (ahem) to act like these women are driven by genuine concern for children while disregarding the interests of said children.

This post is unavailable.

No. We do not negotiate or compromise with MAHA. The movement needs to be crushed mercilessly. Vaccinate them at gunpoint. Take their children away.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez@ocasio-cortez.house.gov

There is pervasive corruption across our healthcare and agricultural systems that defy party lines. I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.
