Looking at a project. Saw a name attached that made me click "Yes! Follow that!" 128 page booklet comes out. I'm scrolling through it and it looks like midjourney to me. Page after page after page. But the creators have said they are working with the same artists and wouldn't use AI. Hom.

Good times, good times...

China is ahead of the West when it comes to AI - there, the bubble has already burst, the stock market has already crashed as investors have realised there's no consumer demand or path to profitability. www.ibtimes.com.au/china-ai-sto...

Assuming that you're sheltering in place then 4L/p/day is a good figure. 4L x 3 people x 3 days without reliable water supply = 36L. I've got 40(no) 0.5L bottles which occupies 20x30x50 cm3 approx. That easily fits under a bed. www.survivalbasics.co.uk/survival-ski...

sorry, but the British government now apparently envisages a scenario that would require me to keep forty eight litres of drinking water in my house for emergencies? oh right I’ll just shove it in the reservoir I’ve got in the back bedroom then

People abroad don't understand the level of interference Meta & bots had in these elections. 5 days before the election a far-right politician posted a fake news video that got 157 MILLION views on Instagram in 24hs. For reference, GTA 6's reveal trailer got 90 million views on YouTube in 24hs.

just like the fossil fuel industry and CCS, the most fun response is to say "Okay: your product is dangerous. So we're banning data centres, taxing LLM products and encouraging institutional bans on chatbots". And watch them scream with wide eyes

But if you don't look at X, the child pornography website, and bring back fascist propaganda to get angry at, then the other team will have won. Or...

What's striking to me are the rules of engagement and the methodology of action here, which more or less is predicated on burying liberal delusions about "debate" or the "marketplace of ideas". The rules were ultimately very simple: amplify your own message and suppress your opponent's.

They are, in my considered opinion, quite funny. Also educational but what are you going to do eh?

An aside: I write The Gist for lots of reasons. I enjoy it, firstly, and it is satisfying to me to be able to write words for fun. I write a lot of words for work and the energy and freedom of expression it provides is like a cool drink on a hot day. But I also write it to say uncommon things.

Grandson of fascist keeps up fine family traditions.

1. Usborne CYOA books 2. Fighting Fantasy books 3. Fighting Fantasy game (gap with 40k then university, and several years of LARP) 4. D&D 3.0 I think? 5. Paranoia(?) And then Quite A Lot of stuff including hacked Everwhere. I never got out of the habit of running games before reading the books 😂

Alphastream@alphastream.bsky.social

First 5 RPGs played? 1) D&D (Moldvay, AD&D) 2) Shadowrun (1E, 2E) (Gap of like 10-12 years) 3-5) Deadlands, then probably Hong Kong Action Theater and Werewolf the Apocalypse, all in like 2 months with a Philly gaming club that blew my mind!

The One Ring system and involves three people who are on Blooski. 🤣 Ill-fated Isle is Fate Accelerated and promises to be Gothic Horror meets Band of brothers. The GM has form, or I'd be more skeptical. DnD 101 is in fact a group that went 1-20 and then got back on the treadmill with 5.5.

It has two parent child groups as an OC thing, both now able to vote which happens when you run long enough. 😉 Dragon Delves is a spin off of 101 and has some of the older players from 101. They seem happy. 😊 And Sucker Punch is a heavy rework of Firefly as PBTA. Excited to see that playtest!

And have one of our players who just did their A levels. Now she's 18 her dad doesn't have to come anymore. Silver Blades is BITD and that's been a bit iffy in attendance but the GM is pretty good. Did dread for me. 😊 The order of the stone is a call of cthulu game so oversubscribed that

It's being run as A and B on different weeks. Bold choice! Portsmouth by Night is a rare Vampire 5e game and has drawn out the min maxing drama goths. Should be a good one. Also made me glad I have an accessible venue as one of the players has intermittent mobility needs. Mines of Moria is

I'm running 13th Age as the druid the devil and the deep blue sea but the player who whined most about backstory rejected the hook so I have lost all motivation to continue. But I do have Laundry 2e... East of Eden is my staying ahead of the tech zombies game. It's OSR in space and they have

Asked for more combat. I mean... Ok. The non combat stuff is nearly murdering you but sure. Stars Without Number Mythic Iceland is being run by a researcher in Norse studies. Quite envious of that one. Chaosium. Pieces of Arcanum is an OSE dungeon crawl. They seem to be enjoying the turnover

The variety of foods available. In the US in the 1980s and 1990s, taco seasoning was on the "Ethnic Foods" aisle next to soy sauce and ramen. If you didn't live in a major city, you likely didn't have an Indian restaurant let alone know what naan is. Now it's on grocery store bakery shelves.

We've uncovered that this group of people, funded by a foreign country, are, in conjunction with previously convicted terrorist groups, organising killings, paid protest agitation, and masked rioting across the UK. But they do have some legitimate concerns, so,

We were dropping tonnes of acid onto Scandinavian trees and said "oops!" then stopped putting the Sulfur dioxide from coal into the air thus stopping killing all the trees. We can make changes.

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

some folks reported not being able to use certain adult-focused platforms (like onlyfans and fansly) — there was an internal miscommunication and these were accidentally added to the list of disallowed domains. this is now fixed! but you may need to refresh your app to get the update. 💙

Americans will do anything rather than accept that SI means System Internationale which is the actual scientific way of measuring things. Fitting as GenAI is anti-science.
