Pretty clear from Marist and the others herding with aggressive LV screens that they're weighting for a much stronger GOP turnout than the early voting data suggest. It could be correct, but it increasingly looks like they're going to have egg on their faces.

For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.

I don't vote early unless I expect to be out of town*, but admittedly I have some concern about election day shenanigans and am contemplating pulling the trigger at the end of this week. *(I really don't think we should have more than a week of in person early voting, if at all. Info asymmetry.)

I voted early this year which I’ve never done before. But my early voting location received a bomb threat on Saturday and had to evacuate and shut down for hours. I’m not taking any chances that I lose my chance to vote. I’m in a very blue district (Corey Booker is my Senator) but I still voted

Okay so the project is real, has been in the works for some time, and may be ready to break ground sometime next year if all works out with corporate. But I suspect the announcement was rushed and there are still lots of key details (including models) to hash out. 🔌💡🚗 www.ajc.com/business/202...

I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

politico.comBrazil voted to re-elect Lula. Trump’s allies aren’t happy.President Donald Trump's allies have questioned the integrity of the Brazilian election. But if Trump were to intervene, it would threaten a fragile trade detente between the two countries.

I still peg the likely split around 8. But this falls into the “apocalyptic” category for Georgia Rs. And suggests there might be quite a bit more collateral damage downballot.

GOP shared private polling with Axios that has Ossoff up by 11pts and Bottoms up by 1pt. Another GOPer from a different org said they have similar numbers

Elon should be forced to pay restitution to each and every one of them.

I'm actually going to take the other side of this argument. I do not think a revival of the $7500 30D tax credit (or 45W leasing loophole) as it was is a good use of political capital or budget allocation in a new legislative effort. 🔌💡🚗

This post is unavailable.

Instead, I would: 1. Focus on extending/tweaking the 45X tax credit for batteries 2. Restore 45W for commercial EVs 3. Restore 30C for EVSE, eliminate BABA requirements for NEVI, and expand NEVI to support block grants for multifamily buildings 4. *Maybe* restore 30D with a $40k MSRP price cap.

Part of the problem is the scoring of 30D restored is going to be far more expensive today (or in 2029) than it was in 2022, given anticipated uptake and sector maturity. We're also not going to appease Detroit's desire to stick a battery in a 10,000 lb truck/SUV and sell it for $70k+.

I haven't donated to any political candidate since 2022 (one small GA House race contribution) and really since 2020. The reason has more to do with limiting my exposure to future fundraising lists than any political/aesthetic statement. I would give more if the spam cleared out.

I don't think there is any reason why giving through a PAC would ever be optimal for small donors and anyone doing online PAC fundraising should be viewed as presumptively suspect. www.slowboring.com/p/scammy-fun...

In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

I'm no fan of Lula, but it's hard to express how big a blow his shock win is for Trumpworld. There's a reason they were meddling to support Flavio Bolsonaro. It's not just the graft for Trump allies, and favorable resource access. It's also the political & military support for Trump's LatAm agenda.

And regarding trade issues, particularly with energy and agricultural products, Lula had been in a bind all year with himself on the ballot and Trump caring little for his own electoral fortunes. He now has more freedom to stand up to Trump even if it means short-term economic pain for Brazilians.

Everyone thought Lula was cooked, hopeless. Then he bought a phone and started posting and now he's gonna get a 4th term. The lesson is to never stop posting.
