Despair would be appropriate in principle, but it is pointless in practice. And to all relevant parties, I'll see you in hell.

I got my massive tonsils and adenoids removed when I was 18 because they collapsed on my throat constantly all night, and I was informed after my sleep test that I would die by 2025ish if I didn't get it dealt with.
Do you get a full night's sleep but wake up feeling like death? Does your whole body feel off in ways you can't explain? Research signs of Sleep Apnea. Get a sleep test. You can't diagnose it yourself, cuz you sleepin'.
Well, this is just an embarrassment of riches for a Raman voter with mixed feelings about the Katyn Massacre and megadeath-range artificial famine.
NEW: DSA's National Political Committee passed two resolutions today aimed at Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, beginning processes that could result in DSA-LA being forced to rescind its endorsement of her this weekend and/or Raman herself being expelled from DSA by January.

There is one member of this family who is unambiguously the descendant of Joseph Kennedy Sr. and I mean that in the most condemnatory way possible.

The political power of the gaming industry was long checked by the fact that it has to operate like legal weed, and the greatest sin of the gambling-legalization era is how it allowed these parasites to get around the interstate commerce clause and run multistate operations.
Example: to gamble in CA you *must* have information XYZ about an end-user. to do so in NY you are *prohibited* from retaining that. so you need legally separate entities, so you need physically seperate information storage, you need two seperate legal teams (who must be in CA/NY, of course)

It's worth asking yourself how so many societies came to discourage an activity that involves the unwise use of your own property, primarily by men. It's not a natural thing for humans to prohibit, at first glance... but as a very social problem, it starts to make a lot of sense..
I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

This is the most coherently angry I've seen him about something in over a year.
Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"
You know what's super frustrating? Having a car stolen in a major American city in 2022 and being told that the city has no way to find it because they have no ALPR system. I can't pretend to be horrified at the city of LA having the faintest fucking clue what is going on within itself.
Tomorrow LA City Council will vote on a potential new contract between LAPD and automatic license plate reader (ALPR) company Axon. Under this new contract, any streetlight could become a tool of police surveillance. @rosalindjones.bsky.social reports ⬇️ knock-la.com/la-city-coun...
It's incredible how much more disquieting this is for the suggestion that there's two of the monsters. Like, why? I know his people like Trump and his rallies more than I do, but this really feels like the WH is forced to act like sending him out there is not doing pointless damage.
🚨🚨🚨Trump just made another comment about how his “two big monsters” will make history next week. “So, I wonder if I should say this. I’d like a little advice from my two people, my two big monsters. My two monsters are going to be the biggest stars in the country in a week.”

The extent to which Steve Mnuchin set us up for this—by being competent and quiet enough to let us all believe that the Trump 1 economy was a result of policies Trump supported, let alone was even aware of—is difficult to overstate.
I agree with this in broad strokes, but the underlying connective tissue here is more of a character problem: this administration is simply bad at authoritarianism. Their policy judgment and execution has been ham-handed and incompetent because *they* are ham-handed and incompetent

Three moments broke Trump 2.0: 1) Kimmel and other attempted censorship after Charlie Kirk. Made public see the attack on speech. 2) Minnesota anti-ICE protests, Goode and Pretti killings. Made public see the attack on rights. 3) Iran war. Made public see bad foreign policy affects them directly.
I do think when historians look back the period the exact moment where it flipped and started going the other way won’t be anything any politician did but my Minneapolis neighbors weathering the worst of the regime in the streets, rallying together, fighting back, and winning
It's a tragedy of spiraling game development costs that kids today will never know the simple pleasures of an inept, rushed, borderline-unplayable movie tie-in game. My generation was forged in the broken platforming mechanics and clipped sprites of John Grisham's The Rainmaker for SNES.

I think Garland perceived his job as being the responsible adult in the room whose role was to resist pressure to lock Trump up. But when Trump was guilty of multifarious offenses ranging from treason to fraud to child predation, this turned Garland into Trump’s de facto protector.
If I were Israeli, I'd be pretty nervous about all of the Poles. The track record is poor.
In about 24 hours, poles will open here in Israel. In what is a strong contender for Israel’s most critical elections. The election pits Netanyahu’s extremely unpopular coalition against a non-coherent, but moderately more liberal, opposition. Here are some thoughts as we head into it.
