This image sums up so many crucial advantages of switching to electric cars, and of switching to clean energy sources for our grid.

What most people don't know: when you fill up a petrol car most of the energy never moves it. Petrol car: 13–21% of the crude oil's energy reaches wheels. Electric car on today's UK grid: 43–45%. Electric car on wind+solar: 77–80%. That's why we don't need to replace fossil energy one for one.

When Linus asked me how he could make the world a better place, it made me think: What could the world look like if more adults asked that question every day?

The president of the United States just signed an accord with the name if his country misspelled as "Unites States". This is the level of competence we expect.

The world has become much more resilient to disaster events over the last century. In the chart here, you can see estimates of average death rates — measured as the number of deaths per 100,000 people — by decade since the early 20th century.

Trump yesterday: we will clear the mines and unblock the strait of Hormuz. Trump today: the US will blockade the strait of Hormuz. Trump tomorrow: we have renamed it the strait of Trump's imaginary glory.

I love this so much.

A viral clip in Australia from 1991 of the con man Jack Karlson shouting about his groin in front of a Brisbane Chinese restaurant while being arrested, has been deemed one of the country's important cultural recordings. It will now be preserved in the country's National Film and Sound Archive.
