If you haven't heard this series, you should listen to it, and you'll like Dolly even more. (My fave episode is the one where Jad talks to his dad about how "Tennessee Mountain Home" spoke to him as an immigrant far from home.)

🚨ACHP is rushing a Section 106 vote THIS FRIDAY that will eliminate regulations, further devastating historical protections. Section 106 is what allows US to document our history in areas endangered by actions funded/permitted by our federal govt. Contact ACHP👇🏽 ASAP — vote NO! (cont.)

really can't be said enough that this case was decided by the same court that decided plessy v. ferguson. if they could have found a plausible rationale to limit birthright citizenship they would have done it. but there is none! the text is as clear as constitutional language can be.

Today is the 128th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision on birthright citizenship in U.S. v. Wong Ark Kim.

Our founders, though deeply flawed, understood that democracy requires an informed citizenry and a government accountable to it people. That’s why the press is the only profession protected by the Constitution. It’s also why autocrats and oligarchs seek to control and destroy it.

Folks, she brought a whole plate of spaghetti to the broadcast center to do her headshot. She then houses that spaghetti. Mattia sips on an espresso during his. Truly the heroes we need during these times.

Alessandra Fumagalli with a tough start, likely some wind there. Hit into 8, and this is a tough run for her today, she's had a really great season. She and Mattia Gaspari are two of the more fun people on tour. They also have amazing headshots for the broadcast Fumagalli is into 16th

Mamdani: I have been told that this is the occasion to reset expectations, that I should use this opportunity to encourage the people of New York to ask for little and expect even less. I will do no such thing. The only expectation I seek to reset is that of small expectations.

I want to uplift the women who were girls who were raped by Epstein & Maxwell & Trump & ex-Prince Andrew & abandoned by everyone who's been scrambling lately to say that they didn't know of course they didn't know but they did know & some of them knew because they'd done it too.

I did not know either about Redford's polio episode or his involvement in making this film about the Salk Institute. #PublicHealth is embedded in all our lives.

Robert Redford (RIP) survived a childhood bout of polio though bedridden for 2 weeks In 2014, he directed a short film on the architecture and mission of La Jolla's Salk Institute—honoring founder Jonas Salk, inventor of the polio vaccine that has saved countless lives, and architect Louis Kahn

This is a beautiful read.

NBCC member Tiffany Troy interviewed Mary Jo Bang about about the act of “carrying” poetry across from one language to another and how Heaven is different for each person lucky enough to have made it there in Dante's "Paradiso" for Asymptote:

FYI if you're in LA this fall into next spring, two art spaces—MOCA & The Brick—will be hosting a show built around decommissioned Confederate monuments & contemporary artists' responses to them. Co-curated by Hamza Walker & Kara Walker. I think it'll be fascinating & timely the-brick.org/monuments

Absolutely love this

Here you go! I'll write some new ones for this semester too. They loved them. The "read without your phone or screens in the room" was a revelation, and many of them decided to keep doing it. They had NO IDEA (& were horrified) how often they interrupt themselves to look at a phone for no reason.

And it was great! 👏👏

I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”

Mor Naaman@informor.bsky.social

I have never seen anything like this in NYC. 5th Ave covered from 42nd St well to the 20s. Nobody prepared for this volume. Volunteers are holding the traffic on all the side streets. No police in sight. #handsoff
