I don't expect to be followed back. When I find your stuff interesting, I don't necessarily expect you to find my stuff interesting. That photo is fake. It's not me. But also, basically, it is.

we're going to need a long-term plan, with broad political appeal, for ending impunity & holding the trump administration accountable for its crimes, malfeasance & cruelties. not 'tit-for-tat' but an american version of transitional justice. my take in @slate.com 👇

slate.comAmerica Needs to Reckon With What Trump 2.0 Has Done. Planning Should Start Now. (Gift Article)Some people will beg off in the name of “bipartisanship.” That will not solve anything.

Cary Elwes really did develop an immunity to iocaine powder, to help him portray that air of unconcern. Wallace Shawn chose not to, to help him look nervous and focused. (Only Elwes' cup had actual iocaine powder in it.)

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.

The poisoner who worked with the production was outraged at Shawn's dangerous technique and that'd never be allowed today, but the rules for poison handling on movie sets were looser in those days.

Here’s the ad that has Florida Republicans going the prior-restraint route. (The details of the grand-jury report have been widely known and shared for 2 months.)

Taxonomy question: is this a doomer or a wrecker?

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

People will say it's "Tech Week" here in NYC. Well, any event run by Andreessen Horowitz is illegitimate, because the NYC tech community has values, and one of its most fundamental is its humanity. They have forfeited theirs.

Yes, because a lot of “leftists” are kids from right wing households, who realized they held a left-coded core position (usually lgbtq rights), but have never rethought any of what Fox News told them about liberals.

realryanwhorton.bsky.social@realryanwhorton.bsky.social

They use liberal the same way Glenn Beck and all the 00s Fox News guys used liberal in the 90s to early 00s. Big damn red flag for me frankly

If you want to spend the whole day watching salty Yankees fans on YouTube, and never listen to the same rant twice, it turns out you totally can.

Booing Freeman is shameful. His departure was more Atlanta's doing than his. Just about as much class as we might reasonably expect from Braves fans, though.

It is a little disconcerting that so many people who know a lot about LLMs on a technical level appear to go a little insane. It would be like if there was a really cool and effective new kind of pen, and for some reason about 40% of the people involved in the pen making process went mad.

Actually, the Democratic mayor of NYC meeting with the Republican President of the United States is *not* remotely comparable to the Democratic House Minority Leader meeting with the unelected, unappointed, unofficial grifting son-in-law of the president.

Yes, President Curtis is good. But also? I think I'd just enjoy the hell out of watching Keith David, Stephanie Beatriz, and Jim Rash in absolutely anything at all.

The position “I would mass murder [any group] for any improvement of [other group]” is indistinguishable from Nazism. This is one of the most disgusting political opinions I’ve ever seen posted on this site (though of course the only person who needs to answer for it is the poster themself).

People on this site want a popular front against fascism until someone puts together a popular front against fascism.

BREAKING: 20+ Republican leaders just endorsed our campaign for US Senate. We’re bringing Texans together onto one team to take power back for working people. Because the real fight in this country isn't left versus right — it's top versus bottom.

Hi. I'm HR, a dad and soon-retiring software engineer. I like astronomy, colony sims, and bread with a chewy crust. And that bit near the end of Larry Carlton's solo in Kid Charlemagne where he eases up and just glides home, like a surfer finishing a run still upright.

John Moe@johnmoe.bsky.social

Hi, I'm John Moe, a writer and podcast maker in Saint Paul. I am married with three mostly grown kids and two nice dogs. I like in "Misunderstood" when Tweedy throws in extra syllables on "Take the guitar player for a ride". Would you like to introduce yourself with a small song moment you like?

One should never label sarcasm as sarcasm. That reeks of insecurity. If you can't live with a small fraction of your audience failing to get the joke, sarcasm isn't for you.

Just had the first of what I presume will be a long string of "my kid opening kid-safe packaging for me" episodes. 8yo saw me struggling with the zip lock on a bag of tide pods and said "lemme get that, daddy"

The thing that pops for me here is that if "we" act, "you" will bear the blame. He's probably not even aware that he has that tic. He literally can't conceive of blame properly attaching to himself.

Threatening to withhold hypothetical future usefulness may be your only move if that usefulness isn't actually available on any terms.

Regarding DSA-LA's non-endorsement of Nithya Raman, I think a lot of people on the left don't get that the way you gain clout with politicians is by proving yourself useful to them, not by threatening to withhold hypothetical future usefulness.

The easiest part of a president's job is deciding which turkey to pardon. Maintaining good relations with Canada is surely the second-easiest bit. You'd have to be an S-Tier dipshit to fuck that up.
