Fucking YouTubers complaining that the new iPad mini A20 has a 60 MHz refresh rate screen. Rage-bait click farming, arseholes. (Tell us what you really think, Ian!) #Apple

I don't have much hope for Israel whoever wins but Netanyahu is one of the most disgusting politicians of modern times. He represents all of his country's foulest instincts. It can't even begin to recover until he and his fascist ministers have been rejected

A week until the US electorate hands the Republican Party a huge defeat. Then we’ll have the perilous period of the lame duck Congress until the next one is sworn in next January. It’s going to be a tense Winter. Oh, and hopefully the Israeli electorate will vote for change today. 🤞🏻 #USPolitics

Scott Boland not in the Australian side? He was the top bowler and a passible batter in the previous Test. Is he injured? If I was him I’d rake in as much cash as I could on the franchise circuit rather than carry drinks in the Australian squad. #Cricket

I’m going to order the WiFi 256GB iPad mini with Nano Texture glass and an Apple Pencil Pro, with a Smart Folio cover. I see the new model supports extended display on an external monitor. So I can use it as a Mac mini replacement for work if ever needed. They could have named it iPad mini Pro.

Good grief.

Roose does a very nice job signaling in the second paragraph what sort of book this will be. He decided to write it the night after partying with ketamine-snorting effective accelerationists. He isn’t e/acc himself, but he hangs with that crowd and accepts their premises as newsworthy,

Heaven. “OLED comes to iPad mini. The new Super Retina XDR display delivers deep, vivid colours and incredibly high contrast for your viewing pleasure. With 1,200 nits peak brightness and 1 nit minimum brightness, content is easy on the eyes in any light.”

People abroad don't understand the level of interference Meta & bots had in these elections. 5 days before the election a far-right politician posted a fake news video that got 157 MILLION views on Instagram in 24hs. For reference, GTA 6's reveal trailer got 90 million views on YouTube in 24hs.

The forecast high temperature for Dundonald, Belfast tomorrow is 17° C. Can we afford that amount of heat in this economy? #Weather

Unlike, it seems, every film critic, I rather enjoyed Klara and the Sun. Not Ishiguro’s tone at all, and certainly prone to drive some people mad, but perhaps I was in a sentimental mood

Talking about robot companion films, I never actually got round to watching Companion which is exactly on the topic. It’s on Prime. I’ll watch it this week. I don’t watch more than one new film per day now. After I saw Interstellar as the second new film in a day and hated it.

The toilets on my train aren’t working but if you need to go, let the guard know & they’ll hold the train while you do your business in Leamington Spa. I feel like I’m in a Victoria Wood song.

I expect the reviewers will pan Klara and the Sun. I liked it. It’s not at the level of Channel 4’s Humans or the Lucy Lapinski novel Some Body Like Me. It has a bit too much of the typical Taika Waititi veneer. But despite that, I liked it. 8/10. #Film #KlaraAndTheSun

I start to get nervous when I agree with someone all the time. It’s not a natural state to be in. This thread makes me feel less nervous because I couldn’t disagree more with Ian’s statement about President Obama. I watched his speech in Detroit live last night. It was fantastic and inspiring.

Ian Dunt@iandunt.bsky.social

I actually find it quite embarrassing to watch speeches by Obama now, particularly his appeal to American decency. He's right of course. You don't win elections telling voters they're spoiled little shits. But I don't want to hear it
