I drew a bunch of stuff tonight, but I'm gonna save most of the original stuff to post later, so here's Guy. #greenlantern #guygardner #dccomics #art

What an incredible convergence of two of my special interests.

Colin Smith@colinsmith.bsky.social

Jack Kirby, with Chic Stone, tells a tale about Jack Ruby’s murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, from May 1967’s Esquire magazine. I had no idea at all “46 Hours & 36 Minutes In The Life Of Jack Ruby” existed. It’s amazing what you can turn up while trawling through old archives.

I can see the headlines from every centrist or right wing news outlets now: "Bernie Sanders Mentioned In Epstein Files"

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

Larry Summers complaining to Epstein that his kids admire Bernie Sanders too much

A splash page from my WIP graphic novel that got cut after I reworked some stuff. Went heavy on the Kirby Krackle with this one. #comics #drawing #art #kirbykrackle

It sucks when you find a YouTube channel that has an interesting and thoughtful interview with someone and then you check the other videos and he's done interviews with people on the Epstein list and has a video about how to use AI effectively.

Sometimes I hear people talk about the "American work ethic" but based on who talks about it, I'm pretty sure the "American work ethic" is about getting other people to do work for you.

They want you to run everything on their servers, store all your data on their servers, and pay ever increasing prices for the privilege. Having your own computer and storage will be a high class luxury. "You'll own nothing and be happy."

Replies are once again proof that nobody actually reads the article.

OSCAR ISAAC, on whether he'd return to "Star Wars": ".. Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great." @variety.com $DIS variety.com/2025/film/ne...

The US has never been a moral leader in the world. Immoral maybe. We've got no leg to stand on and never have. Less focus on who our adversaries are and more focus on international cooperation. Can we please get someone running for office who doesn't frame foreign policy as us vs them for *once*?

Kat Abughazaleh@katmabu.bsky.social

Yet another example of Trump shooting the US in the foot. Our abdication of moral leadership in international institutions like the UN, WHO, G20, and ICC only serves to allow our adversaries the opportunity to expand their influence on the world stage while we suffer. thehill.com/homenews/adm...

I should pitch "I'm a Socialist, Here's What Republicans Need to Do to Win" and see if any outlet will run it.

Tom Ewing@tomewing.bsky.social

The “Person who wants a political party to lose describes what that political party must do to win” genre of article is just incredibly insulting to everyone’s intelligence yet it will persist until the end of time

Uh, sure, the Lourve is less relevant, but one of these is considerably more important than the protests and I'm pleasantly surprised the NYT is actually reporting on it.

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

The NYT app the morning after the biggest wave of protest rallies in America in a generation They buried the story between other headlines, opting not to use a photo too.

Interesting thing I've noticed recently. They used to act like the Democratic party was pushing things on voters, but now they are acknowledging that there is a base that wants left wing policy because it's growing and becoming harder to ignore. Now if only the Democratic leaders would notice it.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Mike Johnson: "We're so angry about it. I mean, I'm a very patient guy, but I've had it with these people. The theory we have right now -- they have a hate America rally that's scheduled for October 18 on the National Mall. It's the pro-Hamas wing and antifa people ... "

I've been bouncing back and forth between me being sick, my kids being sick, and my wife being sick for about a month and a half, so I've barely drawn anything for a while so I'm glad things are calming down so I can dra- oh a new Digimon game came out. Well maybe I'll just do that first.

Larry Ellison envisions a surveillance state in which techbros rule. '“Citizens will be on their best behavior, because we’re constantly recording and reporting everything that is going on,” Ellison said in an hour-long Q&A during Oracle’s Financial Analyst Meeting last week.'

One of the bad things about living in New York is knowing that my Senators are never gonna show up in a list like this and basically no matter how much pressure we try to put on them neither of them will do anything. Our senators suck.

Not a professional or anything, but I definitely found that trying to draw comics more than just drawing single images is 1) more fun, 2) has taught me a lot about comics, and 3) helped me improve my drawing anyway.

Chris Schweizer@schweizercomics.bsky.social

This is why, if you're wanting to do comics, it's far more important to practice drawing comics than it is to practice drawing. The drawing comes with time and you get the time by getting opportunities to make comics, you get those opportunities by demonstrating storytelling.

Trying to decide if I should just put out some of the comics I've made or redraw them again to incorporate some new ideas I had. Opinions welcome (as well as suggestions on how to put it out).

When someone views politics as a team sport instead of about actual policy and governance then differences don't matter because all they care about is graph having more blue than red. But if you don't stand for the same things we stand for, then what is the point of having you in government?

the kat from HOUSE (1977)@dogunderwater.bsky.social

if democrats can't even pretend to uphold basic platform planks like 'equal rights for minorities' then what is the point of the party? they are losing because too many of them it's good, actually, to betray their base by capitulating on basic party principles for some non-existent centrist voter??

Virginia Giuffre died by suicide earlier this year.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

President Trump said his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein ended after Epstein poached young female workers from his Mar-a-Lago Club. Trump confirmed one of them was Virginia Giuffre, one of the most outspoken victims of Epstein’s sex-trafficking ring.

I already thought this pencil portrait Jack Kirby did of his wife Roz was great but then I read the caption: "A drawing of Mrs. Kirby done, from memory, on the back of a piece of German stationery picked up off a dead enemy soldier." DAAAAMMMMNNN!

Saif Musallet was a 21 year old who lived in Tampa, Florida and worked at an ice cream shop with his father. He was visiting family in the occupied West Bank. Friday, Saif was beaten to death by Israeli settlers. The U.S. State Department must investigate the killing of a U.S. citizen.

Evil Superman as a version of the character is bad. "Evil Superman" as a trope is fine, but mostly it's because it's not actually Superman. Kal-El being "evil" has been done well once, and that was because it was a critique of how Superman was portrayed at the time and done by a comics legend.

Okay, I did also like the Justice Lords episode of the Justice League, I was only thinking of comics. And while I kinda like the Injustice comic, it's for all the other characters, not Superman.

Even just personally, the zero sum thing doesn't work. I'm gonna get more back in taxes, but I guarantee I'm not gonna get enough to offset the costs of my healthcare plan when those cuts take effect. The fact that this is also happening to facilitate TWO ethnic cleansings is sickening.

Andrew Facini@andrewfacini.com

This quiz going around is a great example of how the NYT launders right wing talking points through the zero-sum lens. I care that millions of *other* people will get tossed into poverty—or concentration camps. The fact that *I* might get a SALT break is not an equivalent effect on the country!
