Brazilians beat back fascism by... voting harder? Organized offline and online around an election, using a mix of strategies aimed at both turnout and persuasion. Showed up in large numbers, and despite some very wealthy interests arrayed against them, succeeded? Huh. Pretty neat how that works.

While I’m in Rome I have excellent coverage for our Unreal Engine training center this Wednesday. The brilliant Sean Spitzer, one of my former bosses at Epic Games, will be gracing us with a proper deep dive into Lumen 5.8 including the newest features like Lumen Lite !

Podcast idea: interviews entirely focused on the key people who helped you out. The teacher who encouraged you. The uncle who gave you words to live by. The former boss who connected you to a new opportunity. A little acknowledgment that no one gets there alone. Call it Stepping Stones.

Ever notice that there's a lot of folks at Apple who are part of the "Vision Products" team? Not the Vision Product team. Not the Vision Pro team. Vision Products. Plural. That's pretty cool.

Still a few spots left in my Intro to VR for 5.8 course tomorrow. We’ll cover my custom XR simulator, various headsets (including Vision Pro), and everything you need to get started making amazing VR content, broadcast live from Manhattan's first Unreal Engine Authorized Training Center over Zoom.

Stephen Miller said just the other day that all asylum claims are "fake." A couple deported from the U.S. to Guatemala were gagged, bound, and shot dead. Their 14-month old found crying next to their mother's body. People like Miller don't care though because this is the point: ethnic cleansing.

Tonight we have #UnrealNYC in partnership with Manhattan Neighborhood Network. Big thanks to Marcela Bragagnolo for organizing and hope to see you there. There will be lab computers to play with, talks to see, demos to enjoy, and food/drink ! Event link: luma.com/nzulvcue

Republicans just approved a budget blueprint that does far more than fund the war with Iran. Buried inside the $95 billion package is $10 billion to implement new nationwide voting restrictions demanded by Trump.

Wow, Epic says early access to UE6 is targeting end of 2027 but they aren’t planning any new UE5 releases after 5.8 (shipping today). That would mean no new release for at least 18 months, whereas historically we’ve gotten a new release about once every 6 months. Are you surprised ?

I call it UnRealityKit. It's a UE5 + RealityKit bridge for Apple Vision Pro. All those things you can't do in Unreal Engine for AVP due to Metal: eye tracking, standard gesture controls, room lighting & reflections, volumes, fully utilizing the M2/M5 chip... all possible now.
