friendly warning that the sudden flood of game mods (HD! VR! coop!) from people you've never heard of is an excellent way to distribute viruses and malware

When playtesting my demo, I discovered: - Godot was not stripping the non-demo levels out of the build like I expected it to - the level select had a bug where you could select level -1, which would send you immediately to the very final level I got some very confused DMs about it lol

But, there's an easy lesson there: Aggressively strip content from your demo build. And I'm absolutely not blaming the dev for not doing that in advance (my demo configuration for Bad North works the same way), but it's something we should all be thinking of moving forward

I'm writing a mod in C# and it's reporting a warning on line 3 of a file but the warning is blank for some reason so the "problems" overview just looks like this

I've never actually engaged with Geller's work, but his current controversy has been on my mind all week. Lots of complex thoughts to work through. Geordie Greep, whose work I am very attached to, will probably be replacing him for this next week. Fuck.

Apparently October is OCD Awareness Month! I guess I'll make y'all Aware that I used to suffer significantly from OCD as a child (I think ~11 years old). I was a compulsive hoarder. It reached a point where I found myself unable to even throw away candy wrappers.

My mom recognized that me keeping bags of literal trash in my bedroom was a serious problem, so she had me see a therapist. Therapy was difficult, but entirely worth it. I slowly got better and no longer hated being alive.

There's still a bit of OCD lurking in the corners of my mind. I still find myself holding onto things I don't really need, but throwing them out is no longer a traumatic experience. It isn't something I think about every day anymore.

At the very least, my whole hacky setup for having the motion vector solving shader include the contents of my OBS scene has proven to be super useful for a variety of existing effects of mine. Here's a test with my old datamoshing shader, now properly bleeding blocks over the game from my vtuber.

Yesterday's news about Jacob Geller broke my heart, so much that I couldn't stop dwelling on it all day. In an effort to make sense of this horrific news and my admittedly complicated feelings about it, here is my article on the Jacob Geller situation: epiloguegaming.com/what-do-we-d...

epiloguegaming.comWhat Do We Do With Jacob Geller? - Epilogue GamingEarlier this week, a friend noticed Jacob Geller’s book, How A Game Lives, sitting amongst my living room shelves. Under almost any other circumstances, this would have been an exciting invitation for...

MONOMOON, my non-linear game about exploration and discovery launches on Steam November 11th! With no proper instructions, you must deduce and achieve your goals as you solve puzzles, find mysterious items, and uncover secrets hiding right under your nose.

I've been enjoying this! Nothing groundbreaking, but the puzzle design is pretty solid. I intend on 100%ing it.

Finished Big Walk with my friend group today. A lovely and touching piece of game design. I hope that co-op games trend in this direction - carefully crafted campaigns instead of infinite random generation.

first act is a straightforward recreation of the original's test chambers with portal 2 assets it's the second act that's really notable as it reconstructs the entire level design, again to fit portal 2's style

If one such thing as a paid gamedev scene does exist, and they're somehow looking for 3d artists. Hit me up or something because I am Broke. These are assets I've done:

Is it too late to return to the gamedev scene? but like, the paid one... Does a paid gamedev scene even exist?

2017. There was a segment in Escape01 with a "cube disposal" in the form of a piston that would smash a cube to bits. You would use this to fling a cube into the turret. Kinda funny, but a tonal mismatch. It also made more sense to make the player do this fling instead of a cube.

Escape00 stuff from 2017 as well. I was really floundering with this level for a long time and I'm still not totally happy with the end result.

Here's some stuff from 2017, still feeling out the architectural style and mood. I was in architecture school at this time; A&K consumed my free time for at least a couple of summers. I think my parents would have preferred that I found an internship instead.
