A spiral galaxy in a merger, observed with the Apache Point 2.5m Telescope in the SDSS survey. It is at redshift 0.008 (lookback time 114.4 million years) with coordinates (209.65825, 37.42448). 40 volunteers classified this galaxy in Galaxy Zoo 2.

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

These beans, beautiful beans btw, reminds me how, way before transphobe fuckhead JKR wrote her first derivative word and before they were on every TJ Max checkout, Jelly Belly jelly beans were a thing of wonder. Buttered popcorn, peanut butter, cotton candy, boysenberry and so shiny like these

The bean harvest from @thebiologistisn.bsky.social's blue bean project cast offs that he sent me is starting to come in. The earliest beans are all a mild beige but now I'm getting these gorgeous, difficult to photograph, variegated lapis blue and dark brown beans from the pole beans.

Before AI there were people trying to imagine what bonkers nonsense AI would imagine … and it was still do much better than AI

Records come and records go. But this is one for the ages. The preliminary Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomaly is now at a record 3.23°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. This crushes the previous daily record set in 1982 by over 1.14°C. The Climate 8-ball is looking up.

Must read on Rahm Emanuel Rahm, go stand right behind James Carville over there at the door marked GTFO

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

I know Rahm Emanuel. I worked with him for years in the Clinton administration, and then when he was Obama’s chief of staff. Rahm Emanuel represents everything that’s been wrong about the Democratic Party for the last 30+ years. Be warned. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/the-rahm-bomb

We all need someone this amazing to get us through these lava floor times 🥰

There's a big brother who understood his assignment. Kind of brother we all wanted. Did you have one like this?

New record?! Look back time 8+ billion years !!!! 😲

Software developers think "if AI automates coding, I will be able to spend less time on producing widgets, and more time on strategy and architecture." Bosses think "if AI automates coding, I can get my devs to produce 100x more widgets."

Think this is a record - looking back into time 8 mf billion years ago
