1. Not sure when a new, on-the-record rape allegation against a sitting president isn’t considered news — especially considering Trump was found liable by a jury in a similar case — but it was ignored by most mainstream media outlets

I’m convinced the concentration of wealth has made markets more a reflection of the desires and beliefs of a tiny sliver of the world’s wealthiest rather than actual business information.

the markets have essentially become a gauge for how much corruption the government in power is going to let the business class get away with

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

You know, I keep saying "I think Silicon Valley people think AI is good at everything because it's good at code and they think code is the most intellectually challenging task in existence", and then they just go ahead and skeet it out

I am not confused about that: I believe it avowedly, and I think what is happening in every domain of intellectual endeavor suggests that's the right idea, and it will be increasingly clear

I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Because trans kids aren't well understood, it creates space for moral panic. Inside there, the right smuggles in deplorable ideas: that a parent has a right to control a child's very identity and thoughts. It won't stop at gender identity. They assert control over religious beliefs, dating life...

Right-wingers are melting down and accusing trans people of stealing their kids. They're telling on themselves. They're admitting, often in hysterical reels, that they view their children as property. That they feel entitled to control something as personal as a kid's gender identity.

The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history. Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.

😳 here's pictures taken today of Trump's right and left hands. Both are looking really bad, and he's using makeup on each of them to try to mask it (note how the left one is now looking just as nasty as the right one -- that's new) (Aaron Schwartz/Getty)

I wonder which insider journalists are currently sitting on explosive, damning information so they can sell books a year from now.
