Skyrim on Legendary difficulty is a completely different game. You basically play as a normal guy. Clear out some undead in an ancient tomb? No thank you, that sounds scary! Deliver a letter across town for 20 septims? On it!

Shopkeeper is dealing with burlars? Like I told you the last three times: that is not my department, buddy - call a guard! I'm just here to sell you some herbs I picked! Unfortunately, once you hit level ~30 it's the normal game again except every enemy is a damage sponge.

My paws out in an otherwise normal pic, tiny sticker on them with your drop trigger written on it so I can catch you zooming in

It's cool when a sex toy has built-in patterns, but I hate having to cycle through them by button-press in the heat of the moment. It should come with some shitty Bluetooth app that lets you program the behaviors you want. I'm not talking about a vibrator wand by the way, I'm talking about you.

I leave Telegram notifications on for almost everything because I love my people. But sometimes when the group chats are popping off I feel like Dave Bautista's character In "Glass Onion," whose phone is always dinging because he has a Google Alert set for "movie."

(OpenMW posting) On the mountains north of Ald'Ruhn, I caught this breathtaking view of the Ghostgate. The screenshots don't really do it justice, but the god rays and shadows looked absolutely stunning in the blight storm.

(Linux posting) I tried playing modded Morrowind, but could not get any of the utilities to work with NixOS. Someone made a flake for this (!) but it didn't work for me and I lack the skills to debug it. So I installed Kubuntu on my new laptop and got it working perfectly.

I'll try source-controlled dotfiles for awhile. I don't think that goes far enough to replicate what i love about NiXOS (i.e. it satisfies my emotional need for reliability, reproducibility in case of failure, and full understanding + control), but it will be a cool experiment.

The best way I've found to get immersed in an RPG is to only take one quest at a time. Take each one seriously and don't get sidetracked until it's complete.

This forces me to fully pay attention to the story without the cognitive overhead of an endless task backlog that flattens each task's significance. Same with the "video-gamey" behavior of multitask routing. I also find myself valuing downtime between quests more, like my character actually would.

I had one of my cyclical urges to replay (modded) Morrowind (via OpenMW) and deep-dive Tamriel Rebuilt. The new landmasses are so big that it's tempting to endlessly wander, never staying in one place for long. But "one quest at a time" forces me to slow down and *look* at things. It's great!

Just watched "It Ends" - really fun, with a high-concept /r/nosleep feel to it. Would recommend, and add to the "you can watch this even if you're sensitive to horror" category

A non-comprehensive list of Goodβ„’ things to watch for spooky season. ❗Contains especially violent or disturbing content 🍿 Suitable for horror-averse audiences πŸ”‡ Fast and visually engaging enough to be watched with distractions, e.g. on mute in the background at a party

I feel like people greatly underestimate the impressions they make on others. There are so many people with whom my only interaction is 30 minutes of conversation at a con years ago, whom I still think about occasionally and would be happy to see again.

s/o to: - the girl who took great care to make sure I was ok while her partner fucked my partner - the other hare therian I met at a room party - the horror fan who made his own sick as hell monster fursuits - the guy I tried and failed to do a rapid induction on at a hypno meetup

Methodology: Scrolled through "best of" listicles and Reddit posts, and noted things that made me go, "Oh yeah, I'd rewatch that."

Ending of "Harakiri" (1962) but instead of toppling an ancient and venerated and long-unused set of armor symbolizing the emptiness of samurai concepts of honor it's the suit of Fiona Maray, the big-titty horse that seems to be at every con

Furries should position their fursuits in their homes like Japanese armor, waiting in the corner ready to stand up and do battle.

Fun fact: Fruit Iterators isn't as good as "Recursive Chocolate Bites," but nobody really understands how to eat that cereal.

(remembering I can ask the nerds on social for advice) Does anyone know of a good, privacy-respecting smartwatch for runners? Specifically, tracking distance, step count, and heart rate. I used to use a FitBit religiously until I dropped everything Google, and I haven't found any good alternatives.

I have a couple routes that I know the exact distance of, but I want to be able to wing it to new locations, and I want to get back to heart rate training.
