Okay, just got round to playing the demo for Tetric and... this is like a cursed but weirdly beautiful fusion of Puzzle Bobble and Vermis, the RPG that doesn't exist. Great music, wonderful monster art, some gorgeous writing (check the bestiary on all) and so much VHS haze it made my eyes go worbly

First up was Tetric! It's a really interesting concept and I enjoyed trying to feel out the various mechanics. I really enjoy the art style as well. The blur effect over everything could be turned down a bit and I think I'd like more feedback about how good/bad I'm playing but it's fun!

FYI, the Next Fest page has updated! Where previously it was slop, my top recommendations in the main listing are: Dead of the Brain Queen's Domain ReBlade Annalynn MD Anomalith TETRIC (which is new to me and looks WILD) Derelikt Godzilla: DAMM Surfpunk Prison Of Husks Hell Wait Zero AI. Told ya.

Okay, people are already getting really depressed and frustrated with the Next Fest, so I'll say what I said last time round: Wait a day or two. They order the games on the pages by hours played, and 99% of the AI garbage will sink like a stone. Right now it's just undifferentiated and unranked.

Jacob Jazz, conocido creador de FEAR FA 98, NIKE MARE 98, Baobabs Mausoleum o Tamarindos Freaking Dinner, ha presentado su nuevo título, TETRIC, que llega a Steam el 27 de octubre y ya tiene demo en Steam Next Fest. Su nombre ya da idea de su principal inspiración, el popular juego de puzles Tetris, aunque lleva el sello inconfundible de su creador -que en su juego más reciente combinó fútbol y gore- para aportar un toque tétrico con fantasía oscura. El Tetris más terrorífico que puedas imaginar "Lucha contra bloques enemigos usando magia y cartas tácticas, comercia con cartas para financiar tu aventura y ayuda a Don Fëmur a salvar el reino de Calaberia", se lee en su descripción. Como podemos ver en sus imágenes y vídeo, la estética se aleja del Tetris y sus numerosas variantes para mostrar unos gráficos más recargados, con efectos que dan un aspecto completamente retro. Como curiosidad, Jacob Jazz ha anunciado que las ilustraciones de criaturas y objetos han sido creadas por su padre, con un característico estilo de fantasía ochentera. "Sólo quien ocupe el número 1 en la clasificación mundial online de TETRIC podrá acceder al piso 666. Una locura", dice el desarrollador. Steam Next Fest está disponible hasta el lunes 26 de octubre a las 19:00 de la tarde hora española y nos permite descubrir algunas de las próximas joyas indies de Steam, aunque la comunidad está presionando para que Valve añada algunos filtros que permitan ocultar los juegos creados con IA generativa.

Tetric Vuelta de tuerca sobre el concepto de Tetris con ambientación medieval y estética lo-fi-quejumbrosa. El concepto de tirar las piezas como una honda es interesante y el no explicarte las mecánicas va con el tono y la ambientación, pero en la demo se hace confuso. Interesante.
