Students made their first minicomics in my intro making course - mostly standard format but this student, a first time maker(!), did something so off the charts I’m still reeling from it! & he made like 12 of them for his classmates! I’ve hardened myself to a lot of the news over the last few years, letting most of it sit near the surface to simmer. Maybe I’m softened up from an emotional double feature at the movies today but tonight’s headlines broke through.

Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008. Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

What is there to say? I’m gutted by the loss of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele. He made this floating hunk of space rock a better place with every ounce of creativity and influence he had.
