Just about ready to talk about seahorses and dad bods at the ADDA 5 Conference in Tilburg (Approaches to Digital Discourse Analysis). I'll be presenting a case study from my Dadlife project exploring fathers' constructions of familial roles and practices on Instagram.

Huge thankyou from me also to @nounfraze.bsky.social & @helensauntson.bsky.social for organising ‘Marking Milestones in Language, Gender & Sexuality Studies’. This was such an important day for taking stock of where we’ve come from, where we are, and directions we might take in the future. Onward!

This year's annual @lgas-baal.bsky.social event in Manchester was excellent - huge congrats to @nounfraze.bsky.social for organising it, & to @helensauntson.bsky.social for bringing together so many authors in the Palgrave Studies in Language, Gender & Sexuality series to mark its 10th anniversary!

Got my first decent payout from ALCS today. If you haven’t already, sign up!! It’s super simple.

Happy @alcs.co.uk day to all who celebrate! 🥳 So thankful to get a little chunk of author money from them every year 🥰 Writers - if you're eligible, don't forget to register with them!

Speaking as an expert on transphobia and the gender critical movement: Block them. Hide replies. Report them. Do not "debate" them. The fact that they are campaigning so hard against blocking and in favour of debate/their right to harassment should tell you - it serves their interests to engage.

Hot off the press! @jaimackenzie.bsky.social and I's article exploring representations of the charity Mermaids in the British press. We find that, between 2015 & 2022, the image of the charity as a useful source of support is supplanted by the image of a dangerous and controversial organisation.

On the 25th April (in the IoE, the heart of the beast) to be precise. Arguing a complex case about the nature of transphobia. Bringing together a number of perspectives from queer sociology to propaganda studies.
