Peer reviewed research, listening to the experiences of the children and families affected gets 1000 worldwide views and zero media coverage. Anti-trans takes get platformed all over the UK media, complete with commentary from the powerful. The game is rigged against any justice for trans kids.

A "pattern of disciplinary attacks on trans-positive healthcare providers... ensuring trans healthcare is kept under cis-dominated establishment control." "Across the UK an anti-trans moral panic dominates trans childhood, crushing trans possibilities and reinforcing cis domination." 💯

My new article, co-authored with @sandraduffy.bsky.social is out today, please read & share: "Criminalising and eliminating affirmative healthcare: Trans childhood in a moral panic" journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

I’ve now read the CPS consultation response on “deception as to sex”. And I am fucking furious. The CPS actually asked whether its approach properly balanced the rights of trans people to live fully in their acquired gender against the rights of complainants.

It analyses the shocking & persecutory NHS actions targeting trans adolescents and supportive families at the WellBN GP practice, through a lens of cis-supremacy and moral panic. It listens to and centres the voices and experiences of those whose GP prescribed healthcre has been forcibly removed

*But didn't identify any unsafe practices or any risk that trans patients are facing by having gender affirming surgeries

Owen Blacker@owen.blacker.me.uk

Ian Green reiterating that it was a clinical decision. Iolo Doull, medical direction of the NWJCC reiterating that they are completely committed to gender-affirming surgery "but the trans community deerves just as much safety as other communities and this is a decision made on safety grounds"

When I chat to people in my area who know my kid is now out of school, who know why, I'm yet to find a single cis person who will say anything like: 'I'm sorry' 'It's really unfair' 'It's terrible what she's experiencing' Not one For everyone else persecution is All Just Fine.

England has done a complete 180 in terms of school policy in the last month. Rights have been fundamentally & catastrophically removed. There is no press coverage. No discussion. No cis outrage. Not even cis acknowledgement. Everyone else has just moved on, accepted this as normal

I know GLP are up against a very hostile legal context but this is absolutely a depressing read. Highlighting minor ways in which schools can flex that still leave trans kids in a horrendous & harmful position. These flexes are no where near enough to protect trans kids.

Natacha@natacha.bsky.social

Guidance from @goodlawproject.org about trans kids in schools. The Equality Act still applies and it would appear that @lucympowell.bsky.social’s transphobic schools’ guidance may be unlawful in many instances.

GLP, as lawyers, sometimes write as though their audience is lawyers. I'd like GLP guidance to be useful beyond law courts. Discrimination means a different thing to a general public, or teacher, than in a court of law. We need to call out discrimination even where it is not 'illegal'.

Where a trans girl is banned from using the girl's bathroom, we should not be labelling it 'discrimination' if she is forced to use the boys and 'less discrimination' or not discrimination if she is 'allowed' to use the disabled or other spaces. Both are discrimination, whatever our laws say

My daughter is currently out of school. Because of hateful discrimination introduced this month by Labour. None of the discrimination she has faced is noted in this post. The discrimination she has faced is almost excused or treated as unavoidable in this take.

Let's not pretend there is any dignity or safety in these minor tweaks. Let's not pretend that a school avoiding these minor accommodations is what constitutes 'discrimination'. The whole approach is discrimination & abuse by design, even if it is currently 'legal'.

I find the implication that these minor flexes are where the fight currently stands absolutely sickening. I'm not doubting the legal interpretation that these minor 'wins' are the best that can be legally 'won' or defended in the current context.

I’m a Texan trans kid who almost died because of Ken Paxton. The world should know what he’s done. This was very difficult for me to write, but given what's at stake, I cannot bear to stay silent about what I went through at Paxton's hands. He must not be rewarded for what he's done to trans kids.

transiticsnews.comI’m a Texan Trans Kid Who Almost Died Because of Ken Paxton. The World Should Know What He’s Done.Regardless of Talarico’s recent statements on trans people, Paxton cannot be rewarded for the extreme suffering he’s inflicted on me and tens of thousands of Texan trans kids.

I can't count how many times I've been told to stop following what is happening so closely, as though that is a solution to targeted elimationism

Caroline Litman@alicemydaughter.bsky.social

Fuck every single cis person who still says, “my solution is to not listen to the news” after I tell them how upset I am about what cis people are doing to trans people.

Anyone at the mass lobby today. You can tell them about my kid. Supported at school for years. Now out of school - driven out by hateful segregationist school policy introduced by Labour. Trans kids are being persecuted by this government

As one of few trans scholars receiving a PI grant from UK RI, I would really like the context underpinning the need to leave the UK, and the consequent need to leave this important research grant, to be noted".

And today, instead of research, I'm back to home schooling, feeling lockdown deja vu. I'm also still working out any feasible route to a safer location where my kid can grow up, receive healthcare, and go to school with dignity and equality. The UK is not safe for trans kids.

I just submitted a termination request for my UK research council project. There are not many trans researchers to have been funded as Primary Investigator on UK research. I asked them to note the context of me terminating the research project:

"I need to leave the UK due to the hostile & discriminatory climate for trans life, due to a new trans segregation policy introduced to UK schools this month, a UK wide trans bathroom ban introduced last month, & wider political and legislative hostility.

Ecuador "makes a parent’s 'promotion' of gender-affirming medical care for a transgender child grounds for the loss of their parental rights". So many places in this world are using state violence to do everything they can to stop trans kids finding support.

Transgender World@transgenderreport.com

A new adoption law in Ecuador contains discriminatory provisions targeting lesbian, gay, and bisexual people and threatens to strip many parents of transgender children of their parental rights www.hrw.org/news/202... #transgender #trans #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA

Things are not very much better here. So many supportive parents are either being currently investigated by social services, or are facing threats of an investigation, just for supporting, advocating for, or supporting essential healthcare for a trans kid.

For many, today is the last weekend before school restarts. Sorting uniform, finding books, preparing to be reunited with friends. For my kid, who won't be returning to school, it is a time of huge uncertainty. We don't yet have a clear path forward. English schools are no longer a viable option.

Cal Horton (they/them)@fiercemum.bsky.social

Just had meeting with kiddo's school. She has been fully supported, treated with full equality & dignity for years. All of that changes from September. Full segregation & humiliation across the board. The school staff cried in the meeting. This will absolutely lead to children's deaths 1/2

We are working towards alternative options but those options haven't yet worked out. It's really scary and stressful. Most of all it's deeply sad. She has actually been happy at school. That happiness has been stolen from her.

In a brief moment while the kids are out the house I'm having a quick cry before regrouping, making plans A, B and C, and trying to act like the responsible adult in the room who has got clear solutions to systemic oppression and eliminationist violence.

This is the most fucked up and immediately harmful policy decision I think I've ever seen in adult trans healthcare in the UK, and that's saying something. The Welsh Gender Service is one of the best in the country. It is widely praised by the patients it helps. That is why it is being targeted.

QueerAF@wearequeeraf.com

🚨🆕 @wearequeeraf.com and @whatthetrans.com can reveal that the NHS has cancelled all gender-affirming surgeries for adult patients of the Welsh Gender Service Some trans patients received the news just days or even hours before they were due to take place 👇 www.wearequeeraf.com/nhs-cancels-...
