Seeing as it’s 42 years old this week, let’s give it up for ‘Tech Noir’ in The Terminator

Does John Banville think artists have a duty to take a stance on moral issues? His stand is apparently for amorality. www.independent.ie/irish-news/s...

They should put electrodes in everyone’s facial muscles so your manager can activate a smile whenever they feel like it

“Polymarket, a major crypto-betting platform which is not currently regulated to operate in Ireland, also posted about it on Tuesday.” Why on earth is Polymarket posting about a DRCC video on consent? 🫠

Thanks to Ciara Ní Bhroin for writing this piece on the DRCC consent ad row - props to @aidanobrien.bsky.social who gets a mention www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...

Worth remembering that Ireland had a referendum where we put the rights of the child into the constitution despite those who campaigned against such rights. Also this attack on DRCC sends such a poor public message to teenagers (the actual video shows one teenager who likes hugs & one who doesn't)

The distinction being drawn by the Government members is that a hug is non-sexual and so you don't need consent. I simply don't agree and this is a very bad assertion of government policy over children. We had a whole referendum where the rights of children were affirmed www.rte.ie/news/2026/10...

You might not be a professional with a design title - but when you're forced to think about the thing you're making, you're at least doing what designers do. AI didn't "democratize" design. It took away the very thing that could make everyone designers, because it made that thinking optional.

The new release of Mac OS has rolled back the obviously terrible decision to stuff all menus with icons I'd love to know the internal incentives that lead Apple to step on rakes like this again and again blog.jim-nielsen.com/2026/icons-i...

blog.jim-nielsen.comNo More Icons In Every Menu By DefaultHave you heard the good news? I bemoaned the approach of putting an icon in every menu item by default which shipped with macOS Tahoe — but now it’s gone in…

My theory is that design teams are under pressure to demonstrate to upper management that they’ve made significant changes with every major OS release… which inevitably leads to ripping the wiring out of the walls, even when it works perfectly.

For a millisecond I thought they were building a bridge between Northern Ireland and Belgium (which I still think they should do)

Maybe people shouldn't be able to collect social welfare at the GPO, Arnotts lobbies. The company behind the Henry Street department store raised the idea with the man in charge of the regeneration of the city centre, returns show.
