I am working to purge the dishonest and destructive mythologies of Monetarism and taxpayerism from people's brains.
You can read my essays on those subjects here:

Georgia is one of the main states to watch for Republicans to redo their WI/NC playbook of using the lame duck session to entrench power after losing elections.

Both the U.S. & U.K. create their own currency, own their own central bank & do not have any foreign denominated debts.
So, which is more likely to happen??
A private sector debt crises or a government sector debt crises?

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.
WELKER: Is a vote for you a vote for the Trump agenda?
MIKE ROGERS: Um, I'm apologizing. I'm having some difficultly in my earpiece. But is a vote for you? I'm not sure. I'll tell you what a vote for me is. It's a great day for the state of Michigan

Ramaswamy may have pulled his horrible ad featuring Amy Acton's mother, but it doesnโt erase that he publicly punished Acton for the horrible cards she was dealt, which is parents who provided an unsafe, unstable home. His moral compass does not exist and heโs unfit to lead Ohio.
If the entire Democratic party needs to be unified, why are Democratic leadership abandoning our trans friends and family?
Why does demanding that we not abandon anyone equate to "sowing division," while the abandonment itself does not equate to sowing division?
You reveal yourself.
They claim to want to beat Republicans. But they clearly suck at it.
Did it work for Dems when they were
* Tough on crime?
* Opposed gay marriage?
* "Ended welfare as we know it"?
* Cut taxes ("tax relief")?
You run an ad like this and you get an ad in response saying "Democrats want to kidnap and trans your children into gay muslims." You cannot give them an inch on this framing. You have to respond with a throat punch.
Complicit. To the point that we can assume they were complicit before; that this has always been about class, and that they knew exactly what they were doing the whole time.
"Abandonment is Unity," the doublespeak of centrist extremists.
Working with Nazis to exclude people Nazis want to exclude is how you get Nazis. Solidarity is how you beat them.
We must work to replace leadership of the Democrat's Abandonment Coalition. We must foster and grow a Solidarity Party.
You can't beat fascism by agreeing with fascism. You can't beat fascists by accepting a fascist frame.
Corporatist Democratic Party leadership needs to be defeated and jettisoned. We have to fight them, not because we don't want to fight Republicans, but because they refuse to.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC - @electdemocrats.bsky.social) is running anti-trans ads now, so I don't know how you can say the party itself isn't embracing transphobia.
There are still some good Dems out there, but transphobia is apparently a party value.
Trumpโs response to the Ramaswamy ad is worth dwelling on to remind us how his administration has actually treated survivors of abuse.
Beyond Acton, beyond Epstein's victims, there are thousands of other kids and domestic violence victims whose lives have been made materially worse by Trump policy
Ilhan Omar is leaving her D.C. home after a federal search. Agents spent four to five hours inside and took 17 items, including a Somali children's book and a vintage camera gifted to her husband.

The Ramaswamy campaign not only tried to capitalize on a child rape victim, they did it by using an old homeless woman whoโwhile vileโis in no mental shape to adequately understand the stakes.
And did they pay her? Either answer is bad.
Donna Arthur โ aka Amy Actonโs estranged mother, and the person whose testimony Vivek Ramaswamy devoutly trusts โ has been living with her cats, in a car, in a church parking lot, having declined housing assistance.

That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.
Andy's right. "Look forward, not back" is how we got here. Ford pardoned Nixon. Obama passed on prosecuting torture. Jan. 6th accountability went nowhere. Each time, the lesson learned wasn't restraint, it was impunity. Muddling through this isn't the safe option. It's an invitation to the next one.

Donald Trump has spent the entirety of 2026 doing everything possible to subvert the elections. He has conducted a war with neither approval nor transparency. He has continued illegal tariffs. He has killed 300 fishermen. He has threatened Canada, Greenland, Ukraine and Cuba.
Still 2 months to go.

History doesn't reset the day after Trump. It's not automatic back to normal, yay democracy won. We will still have a republic that is gravely wounded and bleeding out. Defeating the current assailant doesn't mean you've stopped the bleeding. The wounds are still there and still potentially fatal.
Maybe that's him and/or his immediate political successors. Maybe it's some new thing following in his footsteps and expanding on his precedents for what you can get away with. But it's a binary choice. Either you shut this kind of thing down hard and decisively or sooner or later it will work.
What happens to these criminals will determine whether, at some point in the near future, some not-huge number of years down the line, this country is a liberal democracy or else has a consolidated authoritarian regime and/or collapses into civil conflict. That's not hyperbole, it's what's at stake.
Muddling through is not good enough. It's kicking the can down the road for the next would-be autocrat to try again and try harder. It can be repudiated as a fundamental discontinuity in legitimacy and its perpetrators punished accordingly or else the democratic death spiral doesn't stop with him.
We'll see how far the attempt goes, even if it will clearly fail. But a constitutional system that sees such an attempt by its chief executive and then leaves him in office has already been shattered. Merely trying is betrayal enough and places him outside of constitutional or democratic legitimacy.

Not to minimize the rest of your list but people forget how terrible it was. You'd go to the "non-smoking" section and your food would taste like an ashtray
I wonder if zoomers understand that a smoking section was not like...in a different building from the nonsmoking. Or even a different *room* - there might not even be a wall between them! You just hoped the smoke wouldn't drift too far over.
Over the last several years, any time I am at the store or somewhere like that and I see a person wearing a Metallica T-shirt or a Nirvana T-shirt, I say "nice shirt", maybe point to the shirt, and keep walking.
Probably the next time that "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" and "Bleeding Me" - significant songs from my youth - pop up when I am listening to music on YouTube, I will feel them with the same emotions and passions that those songs have long kindled in me,
but, this afternoon, I was at the grocery store, I saw a man wearing a Metallica shirt walking toward me, I had plenty of time to say something, but I said nothing.

Centrists: "Trans politics are a distraction from the Trump tarrifs and kitchen table issues"
Also Centrists: <spends $2,000,000 on ads saying they want to ban trans women from Women's sports>
It is shameful that these people clap. It is shameful that not a single Republican member of Congress speaks out to say how shameful this is. It is shameful that this is where America is. The hubris and arrogance and self-dealing that made this Trump and his kind possibleโฆit is endlessly shameful.
Trump calls for Ilhan Omar to immediately resign & says, "please inform our great Speaker, James Michael Johnson that the Democrat Party has conceded her seat ... she will not be allowed to me a member of that body any longer"
Trump's crowd in Iowa then starts chanting "Lock her up! Lock her up!"

Thank you. You are the only other person here who gets the point.
There is this alarming liberal habit of taking conservative assertions literally, fact checking them, and then leaving unchallenged and even unaddressed the actual point of the assertion.
