It's been said a billion times already, and it still can't be said enough: I don't see how US democracy survives if blatant, intentional lying remains cost-free

RNC Chair Joe Gruters: "Tala-freako is a creep. He's a vegan. He thinks God is nonbinary. He wants to mutilate children."

Happy Veterans' Day to everyone except our Commander-In-Chief, who, being a well-documented sociopath, doesn't possess the capacity to understand the concept of honor, or the selflessness that our servicemen and women exemplify every day to keep our country safe

Trump: We gave her the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It’s much better than the Congressional Medal of Honor because soldiers get the Congressional. And they’re in very bad shape because they're dead. She gets it and she's a healthy, beautiful woman. And they’re rated equal

On the one hand, Trump is explicitly threatening to use the military to occupy Blue America. On the other, he's so clearly in mental and physical decline that he can barely choke out his "look at me I'm a fascist dictator" routine without slurring words and stumbling all over them

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. This is gonna be a major part for some people in this room. That's a war too. It's war from within"

Last week, Boston received a letter from AG Bondi threatening to prosecute officials and withhold funds unless we cooperate with carrying out mass deportations. The US Attorney General asked for a response by today, so here it is: stop attacking our cities to hide your administration’s failures.

When it's all in the same thread, it seems way more obvious

Mark Jacob@markjacob.bsky.social

🧵🧵🧵 In this thread, I lay out more than a dozen facts about Trump and his child-molester friends Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. I challenge you to read the whole thread and then decide what the odds are that Trump did not abuse girls or tolerate his pals Epstein and Maxwell doing so.

Remember when scholars of authoritarianism told us he would go after his political opponents, unions, academia, and the media and people were like, “But Tim Walz got the date wrong from when he was in Tiananmen Square?”

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "This is like, proof. Irrefutable proof that Obama was seditious. That Obama was trying to lead a coup. And it was with Hillary Clinton, with all these other people. But Obama headed it up ... this is the biggest scandal in the history of our country."

He has the perfect explanation at the ready, but somehow "I always talk like an idiot, I can't draw for shit and all my books are ghostwritten because I have no discernible talents outside of putting my name on grifts and annoying people who already hate me" seems like a defense he won't get behind

Judd Legum@juddlegum.bsky.social

1. Trump says that the letter to Epstein is fake because the letter is "not the way I talk." Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the letter is "not at all how he speaks or writes." JD Vance said the same thing. Does the letter sound like Trump? I investigated.

"Yes she did, and yes it is"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

REPORTER: Did the attorney general tell you that your name appeared in the Epstein files? TRUMP: No no. She's given us just a very quick briefing. These files were made up by Comey, Obama, they were made up by the Biden-- we went through years of that with the Russia Russia Russia hoax

By the time Republican voters notice that they voted for a regime that screwed them over, the GOP will be the minority party (if we have elections again). The GOP will blame everything on the Dems again and GOP voters will believe them because GOP voters consistently trust people who lie to them

Jim Banks on Medicaid cuts: "Let's make sure that people who are able-bodied go to work every day and don't get things for free."

Everyone gives Trump a free pass for saying shit like this because his relentless narcissism and hacky grifter showmanship necessitate that he hyperbolizes just in case someone stupid might believe him, and this has been a known quantity since, like, 1980. Hegseth does not pull this off

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hegseth: "President Trump directed the most complex and secretive military operation in history, and it was a resounding success." Move over D Day!

We already know he doesn't understand what Photoshop is, but now here we are having elected him twice and I'm still not entirely sure he can read

“Look, here's burial sites all over the place. These are all white farmers that are being buried,” Donald Trump said during today’s White House meeting with South Africa’s president. The image he was holding up, however, is of the Democratic Republic of Congo. www.barrons.com/news/trump-d...

Here's another example of using the "scold the stupid child" approach. She reads the law to him, slowly and carefully, and boxes him in to the point that he turns beet red.

This is a funny story because of how it establishes that all around the world, even the most nihilistic ultra-rich freaks are realizing this shit is stupid, wasteful, and unnecessary and Trump is like "the big plane has a couch in it, it's the highest premium leather," www.forbes.com/sites/jeremy...

The Republican Party is more or less built on reactionary opposition to the Democrats policies rather than their own actual policy ideas, and unfortunately the Democrats’ most recent policy was “having a strong economy”

James Medlock@jdcmedlock.bsky.social

The funniest thing about all this is Joe Biden built a "bring back US manufacturing" button and Trump could have just kept pressing it but instead he insisted on smashing the "crash the stock market" button

Welp, the last time there was a big outbreak the Trump administration said that the numbers looked bad but that the biggest problem was that we were doing too many tests, so let's see how this cadre of brainiacs handles this one

My friend--an asshole--would put $5 into the jukebox, punch in $5 worth of Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden on repeat, and leave the bar immediately, just to ruin things for anyone still paying attention. Anyway, that's how I feel about people who show up to the polls, vote Republican, and leave

Joe Kent, the guy Trump is nominating to lead his counterterrorism division, employed Proud Boys and Patriot Front members, met with Nick Fuentes and sat down with a neo-Nazi YouTuber for an interview.

I get that pointing it out is important, but I don't understand why anyone in the year of our lord 2025 expects Donald Trump to act or emote or make decisions or show empathy--genuine or disingenuous--like a normal, well-adjusted person. Like expecting a dog to be able to eat with chopsticks

Why, yes, I've often thought that thinking about women, victims of genocide and minorities in passing on certain days of the year has been a radical and wasteful use of like 30 whole seconds of my time

After indicating that he supports getting rid of free school lunches and funding for childhood cancer research, Rep. Rich McCormick refers to RFK Jr as "JFK Jr" and asks, "when in history have we had our poorest people also be our fattest people?" Total clown show.

You are up to date.
