This is an up-close photo of Saturn's rings, but it also shows so much more. Those two little dots are actually the Earth and Moon as seen from over 1.4 billion kilometers away by the Cassini spacecraft. Everything you know and love is on that dot. #Astronomy ⚛️🧪

not that the present economic picture is rosy, but i do think that popular culture — and specifically nostalgia bait television — is a big part of the reason that our public memory of the 1970s, 1980s and even 1990s seems to miss the real economic pain that marked each of those decades.

🥳 Congrats on the launch, @developer.mozilla.org! Yet another piece of our web dev tool belt built with web components and Lit 😎

MDN Web Docs@developer.mozilla.org

We’ve launched MDN’s new front end — and it’s just the beginning. Intentionally targeting Baseline "Widely available" features when deciding on which ones to use. This means we're able to adopt modern CSS and web components for our UI. Check it out 👇 developer.mozilla.org/en-US/blog/...

Back in the day, Twitter used to be really good if I set up a thread to connect freelancers with clients. Let's see if Bluesky can do it. Clients: if you're looking for freelancers/contractors, get in the comments Freelancers/contractors: get in comments Everyone else: boosts appreciated

I experiemented with a widefield image of the Carina area using a Sigma 105mm DG HSM Art at f2, ZWO ASI2600MC Pro, and ZWO AM5. This was two hours (24x300 seconds) with an optolong l-ultimate. A good learning experience printing AF, tracking mounts, and other bits and pieces. #astrophotography

I've spent the better half of the last month pulling together this report with the team at @zeroheight.com and so happy that it's finally out! We asked just under 300 DS folks about their teams, systems, challenges and ways of working to get a state of the industry

Well, hello there. Hope everyone stays safe and tries not to buy up all the water and toilet paper, or at least shares some with their neighbors. #tropicalcyclone #alfred

After a mosaic of a region of Vela, I pulled some crops of interesting subjects. I am enjoying the hunt for information regarding the Vela region and larger Gum Nebula. #astrophotography

Great post and hits on some of my own feelings towards React. I have worked with many diferent js frameworks / libraries and the React vibes are real. I also have some similar feelings towards Angular but the DX solved most of them at the time.

Things you forgot (or never knew) because of React joshcollinsworth.com/blog/antiqua... This is a very good post that's worth your time to read. It has a good blend of history, valid criticism, credit-where-credit-is-due, and a fresh look at current front-end technologies.

I attempted a 3x2 mosaic on the LMC at Figtree Country Retreat, QLD AU. Interesting target to go after for a mosaic and I think I will try again in a darker sky. 12x300 seconds per panel (3x2 mosaic) 6 hours total aquisition time #astrophotography

Going through some image backlog and found a session I did on the Lagoon Nebula last September out at Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield, QLD AU with 600 second subs. Here's a "quick" edit. 16x600 seconds with my trusty Redcat 51 + ZWO 2600MC. #astrophotography

Made a trip out to Figtree Country Retreat near Pittsworth QLD AU and managed to capture a few images at sunset of a dusted C2024 G3 ATLAS. The main image is a stack of 8 x 30 seconds f1.8 ISO 800 from a Nikon Z7 and Z 135mm Plena on my Benro Polaris. #astrophotography

WIP of a portion of Vela. This is a crop of a 4x3 mosaic (12x300 seconds per panel) I decided to capture in bortle 1 skies out by Booubyjan QLD AU. Someday I will finish the edit ;) #astrophotography

I revisted my recent "Region of Vela" mosaic. Looking for feedback about stars / noise. Do most enjoy the "natural" stars or toned down with a couple feature stars? Sometimes I feel like I am creating noisy images but I also don't want to over cook too much. #astrophotography

Rough edit / rough image of C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) to accentuate the fanning as it breaks appart. Nikon Z7 + Nikon 135/1.8 Plena on a Benro Polaris f1.8 - 30 seconds - ISO 500 #astrophotography
