blaze: incremental compilation for Rust that’s 10x faster than rustc and also adds hot reloading
it’s fast because it recompiles only the functions that changed, thus avoiding a full linker process, and also allowing the live program to be patched

✨ My new library gpuix-svelte is out! Build native desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux using Svelte and gpui, a Rust-powered graphics engine. Excited to see what you build! #svelte#nativegpuix-svelte.stanislav.garden

One minor feature of Preact 11 that we haven't talked about much is the strictly typed aria roles on HTML elements, where possible. In short, `<header role="form">` will now be a type error.
Spent quite a bit of time going through the spec docs to build that out, doing our part to make the web more
If your photo frame showed up in a box like this, the internal board may be slightly different than mine
We have updated the instructions on how to root it along with network adb and some tips on usb

I have discovered $50 amazon photo frames to be the PERFECT home display screen
They can be rooted, updated to run a modern browser, have WiFi and can be powered from USB
1280×800 resolution with a touch screen
detailed how to hack these yourself in my latest vid

Starting in 2027, Google will block any Android app whose developer hasn't registered and provided government ID. This affects all apps, not just Play Store apps. F-Droid calls it an "existential threat." @keepandroidopen.bsky.social#KeepAndroidOpenkeepandroidopen.org
So much good stuff has arrived in HTML that gives us rich functionality for free and Chris helpfully breaks that down for us.

Just found out that a lot of people don‘t know that you can use a ”C7 figure‑8 power cord“ with any Apple power adapter in case you forgot your travel adapter. Way cheaper to get one of those usually than a full travel adapter. #travelhacks
Holy shit. Someone has decompiled the Adobe suite, rebuilt it in Rust and released it as open source.
Either all software is dead or the US copyright laws are about to receive an update.

It never ceases to amaze me how gullible people are. They tell you coding is solved and yet software is perpetually broken. Then, they tell you not to read the code because we all know the best way to deal with problems is to ignore them.
And that's engineers.
I live every day praying that every single damn website on the world wide web will ask me to sign in with google and truly these are blessed times to be alive
Traditional form submission because anything else is asking for problems. Sadly the latter seems to be more popular these days. blog.vararu.org/stop-buildin...
The npm package went from 1.56 MB to 609 kB (−61%). v11 ships ES modules only, so the CommonJS, UMD and duplicate builds, and most source maps, are gone. The runtime you ship is the same ~40 kB of ESM.
Congratulations on the Preact 11 release🎉🎉🎉🎉
Preact is tiny in production and also small to install. Congratulations on saving almost a mb on install!

Preact 11 is out 🎉
We’ve been hard at work at making our diffing use modern features like moveBefore , leveraging ESM for tree-shaking Preact Compat and ensuring you have a great experience with resumed hydration.

plenty of people run llm based agents with powerful models and do not end up hacking anyone. this is not an ai alignment problem, it is an openai being routinely criminally negligent as a company problem
After about a year, on and off, I am veeeery happy to release TWINKLEPLOP, a syntax highlighter of tremendous power!
The speed of prism with the customisation of Shiki.

I've finally been able to put all frontend solutions on the same grid by recognizing them as a product of 2 axes and 3 core responsibilities. HTMX, LiveView, RSCs, islands, SPAs, Sync Engines...
None express what another can't. They differ in efficiency and ergonomics.

Lots of software companies have bought into the belief that AI has solved software engineering.
The debate is shifting from whether AI should replace work done by SWEs, PMs and designers to whether humans should even review the output.
Apparently human judgment is now the bottleneck.
“our ai broke out and hacked some organisations” = "we failed to set up appropriate safeguards, failed to continuously monitor our experiments, and ignored a basic principle of reinforcement learning: if hacking gets rewarded, the system learns to hack"
“Let me make it clear: without people at the top of their game sharing their experience and knowledge—regardless of whatever ‘game changing’ technology is in place—we are pulling up the ladders and committing our industry to stagnation and death.”

It's crazy how Vitest has replaced not just JSDOM but also React Testing Library with their Browser Mode. I'm absolutely loving this 😍
Once you write a single test like this, you will never want to go back.
Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 7.0.0. The most significant changes since 6.0.0 are faster installations and upgrades, stronger sandboxing, a native macOS app, built-in vulnerability checks and an advisory database, the end of macOS 10.15... | brew.sh/2026/09/13/h...
i’m convinced “slowing it down” is because they’ve made promises of ai that are notably not coming to fruition and they want to pretend that’s because they’re being careful instead of admitting they got WAY over their skis

Underdesk Treadmill
I pulled the trigger on an underdesk treadmill. Basic research suggested GoPlus is a decent one. I was hoping it would be $300-400 USD. Turns out this one is just...

Hey, hey! I've been working on something last couple weeks.
Libras - a music player that connects to your own music server. It's still early in development though already replaced apps on my desktop and android.
Give it a try, let me know what you think.

Solod v0.4 is out!
It's a system-level language with Go syntax, zero runtime, and fast C interop.
The new release ships an automatic C bindings generator, freestanding mode for most of the standard library, and even some Windows support 😅

Your TV is spying on you, your fridge is spying on you, the outdoors is spying on you, your car is spying on you, and now soon your friends with Apple products will be spying on you.
So goddamn fucking sick of this shit my god.
DigitalOcean recent decisions:
- laid off their docs team
- Killed CSS Tricks for a while until they gave it back to Chris
- Now joined Omarchy
Uncanny ability to make terrible decisions.
I wrote about what I've been up to with my new programming language!
Zena targets WebAssembly GC, with a TypeScript-like syntax, sound type system, and lots of cool features like pattern matching, async cancellation, borrow checking, WASI integration, and more!

I just dug to the bottom of my Big Box of Cables to find two cables that I needed for something. They've been in the bottom for 10+ years. So, "when are you ever gonna use these?" was today. Don't ever let anyone take your Big Box of Cables away.
Preact 11 has been long in the making and I'm really proud of what came out the other end.
It has quite some history as we first started working on a backing-node (fiber-like) structure for Preact but reversed.
