Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

📢 Journo request! Looking to speak to Sysadmins etc who have been - or are still - dealing with the PHP mayhem. Are you personally on the coalface of this? Have you been patching/ taking sites offline/ handling calls from customers? Can be anonymous if needs be. Please DM/ Signal me!

I love this. I've been on dozens of flights and I still take loads of pictures out the windows and track my progress on Google Maps lol.

i am on a plane sitting next to a lady who looks 40ish and has informed me that this is her first time flying she is visibly excited. she asked the flight attendant how much a soda costs and was happy to learn that drinks are free on airplanes. she's taking lots of pictures. i love this for her

Asda isn't looking financially healthy judging by all those massive gaps on shelves.

Right okay, so why did you include a screenshot? Why has someone else reposted it?

The screenshot isn't graphic but I still think it's unnecessary to include it.

Telling an estate agent he has a husband who does the laundry for him. Let's see how long until he runs out of clean underpants.

Clearly the British 3-pin plug is the GOAT but I feel we should also talk about how ugly European sockets are.

Yes, of course McDonald’s posting about National Coming Out Day is “performative.” Nobody thinks Ronald McDonald threw the first brick at Stonewall. Nonetheless, the biggest and most influential institutions in American life performing affirmation of LGBT social and civil equality is a good thing.

Anyway, accidentally wandering into a Far Right / Nazi rally wasn't something I expected to happen twice this year. At least I'm not dressed for pride this time.

Have failed my first Seat 61 test and booked a seat on the less picturesque side of the train to Berlin.

Just shared a very knowing look with a similarly aged woman, surrounded by young people at the front of a concert as we're all asked to crouch down.

Not a dig at the OP as I see this come up a lot about cyclists and drivers stopping and maybe people are just smiling at you? Can't it just be a polite, friendly and non verbal way of signalling that they've seen you.

Appreciate I, like the majority of people of Bluesky, aren't naturally gifted at interpreting facial expressions. I could be wrong!

My physical copy of 31 Inventions, strategically placed in the guest bedroom, has been a big success with my father in law. It's a good job I have the audiobook to keep me company while I'm on holiday as I suspect it'll find it's way into his bag at the end of the week. @jonnelledge.bsky.social

Everyone complained about the national No BBQ warning but have you ever been in Prague when they test their air raid alarm?

Casually enjoying my last few moments in the Old Town wondering if there's time for a coffee and cake before I'm incinerated.

There's a war on motorists apparently, but you can also park for 24 hours next to Lime Street station for £7.50 and still get a parking space on Level 3.

Does anyone else have that constant feeling you've abandoned your case after checking in baggage?

Welcome to Locktober everyone. Don't ask about November.

IT admin. We have a device that can very accurately locate and identify WiFi/Bluetooth devices. We have detected not one, but TWO Bluetooth enabled sex toys in the office this month. Who is bringing these things to work??

Trying to buy some jumpers and I'm cursed for 1/4 hops everywhere. I don't want to cosplay as a deputy director.

As the partner assigned all laundry based household chores pondering if this is the year I give in and allow myself to buy woollen clothes.

Going away this week and the forecast suggests I need to take 3 different coats with me.

I remember seeing this at Fact and the sound levels were ever so slightly too loud. Nearly s**t my kecks. I think the projectionist was having fun.

Frame of the Day

Seeing lots of cancel their passports, pensions and access to the NHS and not enough send in the army while special forces neutralise the rebel leadership.

My thought on the Piddington thing is we should get a map out and ask them to circle a maximum of three other locals where they say the accommodation should go. We then invite a representative selection of local residents from those areas and they have to convince them to say yes.

If they say no then the accommodation goes ahead as planned and as a bonus construct a reservoir over the village.
