If there is a Republican candidate you are considering voting for because he is an exception, a throwback to the good old days when Republicans were decent, honorable people, I assure you: no there isn't.

I am currently stuck at home and I am begging every person here: stop trying to make me learn who this Klein person is. I get he is very important for social media or something but I am very tired and old and my brain cannot hold much more information.

I just dumped an entire bottle of Diamine Polar Glow on the crotch of my Halloween costume before I had to go to my new partner's (very corporate, had to have my costume approved because good god is her job so buttoned down) Halloween staff party. So today is going GREAT!

Anyway, my review of polar glow: 10/10. Beautiful sheening. Do not dump on the crotch of an outfit because it will shine in the light and you will look like a pervert.

It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.

By my napkin math, total Bell Labs research expenditures from 1930-1980 were on the order of $50 billion in 2026 dollars. AI companies have spent ~$1 trillion so far: The equivalent of ~20 Bell Labs histories. In its history, Bell Labs researchers discovered the transistor, the solar cell, the laser

Funny thought experiment: Tech monopolies have spent about $1 trillion on AI development so far. How good of a chatbot could we have built for $1 trillion by just employing smart people to answer any question people might reasonably ask and collecting all the answers in a big lookup table?

IM SORRY I MISSED YOUR FEEDING TIME. Seriously, this squirrel gets angry when I am even five minutes late. (Yes I am aware this is a warning sound. It only does it when I am late for morning peanuts.)

Because parents have been cutting off their kids (and/or threatening to) since the dawn of time, and NYT editors regard it as normal? (You date that girl. You want to leave the familly business. You chose the arts over med school. You're gay. You're trans.... It's endlesss... & then there's wills!)

As an affirmed dog lover, I have a few things to say. (1) Dogs are harder than people admit. They take a lot of work. They need constant exercise and mental stimulation, especially those with working dog heritage of any kind. Dogs are hard.

the uptick in gen-z vs millennial content is 100% manufactured by conservative media owners trying to direct narratives away from how everything sucks bc of conservatives ahead of the midterms and beyond last thing they want is young people being influenced by millennials raging against the system

... so uhhh anybody else have adhd so bad that you forgot you were proofing focaccia until you heard a weird pop and realized that you set it on top of the fridge three days ago? No? Just me? Cool cool cool.

I hate this so much... and I can't disagree with it. I -HATE- the idea of just tossing people aside but (and this thread is about the libertarian party of NH) what the fuck are we even doing? How can I an Nb pansexual talk to a Trump voter who probably agrees with the shit that was said?

Hillary Monahan@hillarymonahan.bsky.social

Everyone who voted for MAGA really did vote for the Mad Max trajectory and I don't even think I see them as people anymore. Only animals act this callously. At least animals are cute.

Man, I'm having a crash out but: I actually believe that people deserve a baseline of respect before they open their big stupid mouth and apparently libertarians believe that we should just do a murder. I'm so fucking tired.

The inherent problem with Canada’s defense strategy (lose instantly and spend the next two decades conducting decentralized guerrilla warfare and terror attacks across the entirety of the United States) is that it sounds insanely violent but also impossible to carry out. It’s really not.

... there's a whole field of non-generational AI out there that's really good at its job, and any scientist would be aware of this, and you're telling me that he decided to ask the shitty coding robot who sometimes moonlights as an even shittier lab assistant? TO MAKE A BIOWEAPON?

I love how everybody is looking at the AI people like they invented Skynet when they can't even figure out how to not burn a trillion dollars on a machine that is less competent than the chatbot from an ARG in the early 2000's.

Jk rowling has no “moderate” views on trans people. she’s repeatedly smeared trans women as “male porn brained rapists”, reposted vile wojak caricatures, & to this day denies the Nazis’ crimes against trans people. Shes friends & close associates with countless racists, antisemites & anti-feminists,

I was very, very young and there was this amazing tiny little video store my mom would take me to. One day we went there and she just gave me some cash and told me to pick out what I want. The new guy at the counter yelled at me when I went in: turns out It had turned into a porn store overnight.

This post is unavailable.

The worst part was it was the only store that rented anime, Godzilla, and old school Hong Kong movies and it had a surprisingly huge catalog of them. It was also dirt cheap which was probably why we went there. I think I still have the Godzilla movie I was supposed to return that day somewhere.

Aliens is not better. It's a different approach to the same material: an action movie versus a haunted house tale. Saying one is better than the other is like saying a grilled cheese sandwich is better than a peanut butter and jelly. They're both sandwiches, but with very different goals.

Two things are dawning on me: • 1) 99% of media analysis video essayists, right or left, are—to the marrow of their bones—abjectly terrified of ambiguity, paranoid any gap can be seized by the other as ammunition in the culture war. The leftist version is pointing at…

Right? Jesus Christ. An entire generation of media intelligentsia with the emotional maturity and comprehension skills of children.

I just volunteered at a friend's shelter and they had a kitten with an emotional support can of tuna fish. I was told don't take it away because Tuna Fish loves it. Her only other love is violence. It was unopened by the way: Tuna Fish just sort of mauls it around the floor when she wants to move.

It’s so funny (and even more telling) that the owners of professional sports teams acknowledge that there’s a problem with having an enormous wealth gap, but it only matters to them when it’s the difference between different magnitudes of billionaire.

there are a lot of philosophical concepts that get egregiously misused out of the seminar room (and in the seminar room, to be fair). but in terms of sheer pernicious misuse "social construct" has gotta be top 5 somewhere and it's not number 5
