Two common problems in coaching circles: 1) head coaches too often hire their friends as opposed to the best assistant coaches: 2) great/proven coordinators won’t follow someone to another team unless they’re convinced the head coach is that good/will have security.

It remains baffling that Raheem Morris waited 12 years or whatever for another head coaching gig and hired Zac Robinson and Jimmy Lake as his coordinators.

After Phillies eliminated Braves in 2023, I wrote Alex Anthopoulos needed to change the core. Three years later I still think that. As for Acuna, team likely will exercise option on contract but they definitely should make him available in trade. Be objective. Don’t worry about his fanboys.

Trump: *says horrible thing* the media: he didn’t actually mean it Trump: no I definitely one hundred percent meant it

Trump: You wanna see trauma? I said it the other day. Let them hit a missile into San Diego or Los Angeles.

They weren’t expected to win the series but let’s be clear: They didn’t lose this series because of pitching. It’s generally been their offense that has failed them.

The Braves season is over. In a year where they lost Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach, Bryce Elder, Reynaldo Lopez and other arms to injury, getting to the NLDS wasn't an awful result IMO. What do the Braves look like for 2027? www.baseballamerica.com/stories/what...

Unfortunately many players today don’t focus on things like contact and moving the runners over. They want to hit home runs. Too many strikeouts

Do the Braves need to change their entire offensive philosophy and bring on players that focus on speed and contact. They are not just bad offensively but they are boring. That may mean moving Acuna, Riley and Albies for your younger more dynamic talent.

"Stephen A. Smith embarrasses himself" should be a standing headline. Also, "Pat McAfee embarrasses himself." Also, "Barstool embarrasses itself." And get off my lawn.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️

And Raheem not a great HC. Everybody wants him to be great because they view him as a good guy but he was a bad hire, and smart people outside of the organization and fanboy media people knew it.

Did the Falcons completely botch the whole Kirk Cousins/Miichael Penix thing? Yes. But is Penix legit (if healthy)? Hell yes. Reminder: This is only his second game back.

Jeff Schultz@jeffschultzatl.bsky.social

The Falcons have 31 points in the third quarter and are averaging 7.2 yards per play, and Atlanta views this as a wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary.

Suddenly it’s the Dodgers who seem desperate.

In an unsurprising development, Yoshinobu Yamamoto said (through Yoshihiro Sonoda) he would be willing to pitch in relief or on short rest if needed this October. Could open the door for him to pitch twice in this NLDS if needed.

Do I now think the Braves are going to win this series? No. But Walt Weiss is doing a hell of a job Like most I thought pitching Chris Sale in relief was a mistake but it has paid off to this point and now they have a legit chance at a series upset.

nytimes.comAlabama and Kalen DeBoer faced doubts. Now they’re surging back toward the top of the sport (Gift Article)Alabama sure looks like one of the best teams in the country. Beating Georgia would leave no doubt.

Tony Gonzalez basically trying to wipe the slate clean about everything we know about Deshaun Watson. But that grease stain ain't ever coming out, Sparky. And everybody on that Fox set is equally complicit, notably a woman. But no surprise there, either.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

"After 3 straight first-round exits, Braves won a playoff series. Can they win another?" Good question. Oddsmakers: - Dodgers 2-1 faves in Game 1. - Dodgers 2-1 faves to win World Series. Braves are 8.5-1 (5th of 8 teams). www.nytimes.com/athletic/765...
