It's hard to get attention when people are focused on the midterms, but politics will continue after November. On the horizon: a federal bill addressing "organized retail crime" and another addressing "carjacking." Both of these would be disasters and give DHS more power.

There is much to admire in Abdul El-Sayed's response to the GOP plant in his audience. But one of the most deft things he did was to point out (twice) that our Constitution protects our right to follow *no* religion, thereby casting Christian nationalist Tommy as the actual religious extremist.

One of the ways to tell that these ICE agents know they are not arresting violent criminals is that they rarely ever use cars w/cages to transport people. If they were targeting violent criminals, they would use cars w/cages. That is standard policy in every agency.

Ex-boss filed a $12 theft charge against an ex-employee because she got a restraining order in response to his creepy behavior. Charge was never prosecuted, but it gave ICE an excuse to arrest and detain her. Congratulations to the 58 Democrats who voted for the Laken Riley Act. You own this.
