Breaking News: President Trump wants $230 million from the Justice Department for investigating him, people familiar with the matter say. Any settlement might ultimately be approved by senior department officials who defended him or those in his orbit. nyti.ms/4hmIi5X

EL-SAYED: I get that the President takes personal offense to my first name. He doesn't mind as much when it's the Saudis who are funding his son-in-law's private equity. Doesn't seem to mind as much when it's the Qataris who are giving them a $400 million private jet…

“Obama insulting my home decorating obsession shows why he isn’t smart and wasn’t a good president” is something I’d swear the Onion wrote to skewer Trump’s vanity. I genuinely wouldn’t believe he could be this petty and ridiculous if I wasn’t watching the video of him saying it in his own words.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

Sir, sir, I am begging you with tears in my eyes, do not listen to your stupid people…keep declaring how frickin’ rich all the oil and gas executives (and your crooked friends) are getting. This is perfect and everyone who tells you otherwise is a traitor to MAGA and America itself!

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Our country is making hundreds of billions of dollars on oil. and then on top of it we have Venezuela, and we have Greenland! 'We're making trillions of dollars. But my people said 'please don't mention that, sir, because people are paying a little higher'... we're making a frickin' fortune"

Even the idiot die hard Trump cultists behind him in their red hats are stonefaced as Trump cheers for his tech bro friends building data centers and polluting their environment. Love this for him.

Dana Hull@danahull.bsky.social

"Elon, he's building some in Memphis."

This line was definitely funny, but I actually think “He’s only focused on home renovations, he should be on HGTV” was the better burn.

Overall, we are seeing some very odd deal talks that are supposedly a part of ending the war in Ukraine. But in fact evidence shows these deals are structured (in the most recent case secretly until now) to financially benefit Russia or business partners of the Trump and Witkoff families.

So Trump begged Musk to restore Starlink and Musk just lied about it instead of actually doing it?

Financial Times@financialtimes.com

Speed limits remained in place for military units, the country said, contradicting US President Donald Trump’s assertion that the service had been restored. ft.trib.al/ueXt8Vm

Unclear if we’re abandoning our allies, ran out of defense materials, and/or are about to cause even more destruction and destabilization in the region so that Trump can feel like less of a loser, but either way:

"If I have to create stories... then that's what I'm going to do" was how he defended the lying hate speech about Haitians eating their neighbors' pets (In Ohio, as it happens). It is no surprise at all that this doesn't bother him.

All Time Low Alert ⬇️ (But I think Trump can get even lower)

Imagine a President (and a political party) so depraved, and so horny for dictatorship, they’ve decided asserting your Constitutional rights is anti-American. I’ve never been a particular fan of Omar’s, but this is truly repugnant.

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

Trump: "Ilhan Omar, how about her? She comes from maybe the worst country in the entire world, Somalia…And she comes over here and she starts quoting, 'I have constitutional rights, the Constitution…' And she hates this country."

There is a ton of wild stuff happening in this article, but perhaps the most stunning is that Andreesen doesn’t realize he’s describing freaks like Musk, Thiel, and himself in the text highlighted below:

I don’t know what’s more pathetic, that Andreesen is still trying to unload a16z’s crypto bags on retail or that he’s gone full MAGA:

In which we learn that only VCs like Andreesen and Thiel have the courage to make America better through technology like <<checks notes>> Flock cameras that let local police oppress the citizens they are supposed to protect.

Later we learn that Andreesen is buddies with famous Russian propagandist Tucker Carlson and so far into MAGA that Hannania is too liberal for him:
