The first new builds are approaching the final "gateway 3" stage of the building regulator's process. Here's a heartening quote from @peteapps.bsky.social's story: “I think there’s an assumption that the sector knows what this should look like, and I think that’s the wrong assumption”
Yet another one of these stories. I often see people working in housing defend this model on the basis that it works well when the person is alive (as in this case below), but that seems like a huge misstep to me apple.news/Aw6vMw_GCSyy...
Part two of this in depth investigation into disrepair legal claims, this time looking at claims farmers. On some occasions they have even been impersonating the Housing Ombudsman >> Fantastic work on this by my amazing colleagues www.insidehousing.co.uk/insight/hous...

There’s only one way of on interpreting it when an MP thinks it’s okay to say of any minority “I don’t want them on a hospital ward in case my mother *saw* them”
Genuinely taken aback that this comment came from a *Labour* MP. Setting aside the 'debate' around women's only spaces this is basically saying the very *sight* of a trans person might upset her mum? Maybe Tonia could reassure her mum the trans person is just *another human being* and not a monster
Really interesting to see this coverage in the Guardian today of a fabulous looking project - but it was a legacy project by the collapsed Croydon council house building company Brick by Brick apple.news/AZv2dldk7SES...
The project looks great but the Guardian’s representation of what happened by Brick by Brick is a bit questionable here, they report that the company was shut when the council went bankrupt but what actually happened was the company drove gigantic council losses insidecroydon.com/2026/04/22/c...
This is how we reported it back in 2021 www.insidehousing.co.uk/news/croydon...

Nearly 10 years ago a gas explosion blew a hole out of New Ferry high street in Merseyside. At last, the rebuild and regeneration of the area is underway. @jennymessenger.bsky.social has done an ace deep dive on this, including interactive map of the damage done by the explosion and rebuild >>
When I was going to do that Reform interview, I watched all the youtube videos on housing that Onward has produced. This looks like Simon Clarke? www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR_B... The format is "real or made up?" where he's doing both the question and answer. The one on window safety is striking
Interesting to see Simon Dudley - fired Reform housing spokesperson - has popped up with a new job on the advisory board of an AI company. Obviously we all need to work, but also interesting to see some other familiar names on the panel, including former housing sec Simon Clarke

One thing emerging after the government's social and affordable homes programme grant announcement, is much more information on the untapped potential within the social housing sector to build many more homes than the current grant can fund: www.insidehousing.co.uk/news/additio...

More upset over social housing grant - as my colleague @grainnecuffe.bsky.social reports, some London applicants only got 40% of what they asked for and some may not accept the offer from the GLA. The final list is now due in November www.insidehousing.co.uk/news/signifi...
Homelessness charity Crisis is setting up as a landlord. It's interesting Crisis is intending to focus on a group of homeless people who are not well served at present because they would be deemed low priority for housing by the council, and may not register as a social landlord for this reason
This comes out in the excellent interview by mycolleague @grainnecuffe.bsky.social with the new housing director with the job of making this happen

You can support net zero, LGBTQ+ rights and a Palestinian state. But if you attend a synagogue or partake in almost any aspect of communal Jewish life, the Green Party now considers you a racist.

The pitch here seems to be, ‘we’ll build the houses and infrastructure we failed to build during the 14 years we were in government, but we’ll do it in the most damaging and lowest quality way possible’. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
Hmm yeah sure I’m sure that will reassure people 👀
To Jewish members of the Green Party: Assurances, from the motion proposers, that they had no intention for Jewish members to feel targeted for their beliefs or associations have been clear. And if anyone else does try to use it in this way, I will be there for you with my solidarity and support.

Do these posters react like this when someone says something a bit ridiculous to them at the bus stop too
We all just went through a cycle where we decided that leftists absolutely did NOT engage in histrionic emotional abuse in response to the slightest perceived disagreements, and "YOU ARE A DISGUSTING INHUMAN CREATURE, 88-YEAR-OLD WOMAN WHO FINDS ROMANCE NOVELS A TAD FORMULAIC" is what I wake up to

A reminder that if you're citing David Miller as some sort of crutch in defence of your position, you are objectively a deeply, deeply awful person or group.
At this point I would like to show you some of David Miller's posts on X. You can decide for yourselves whether this is someone who is "anti-Zionist" or is instead something else. Something far more insidious.
