Imagine a guy named Mike Poop. Let that one roll around in your brainium for a tic. Still with me? Good. Now imagine a guy named Mike Pee.

Marty was a guest of honor at the MAGfest community orchestra where they were also playing one of my arrangements, and during the performance of my piece he spent the entire time grimacing like he'd just sucked on a whole lemon presumably because it wasn't epic and based enough

Gamers must rise up to support Republicans this November if we want to save our society

also from the same event: he was originally supposed to be a guest conductor for their performance of the Halo theme, but when he got there and looked at the arrangement for the first time he had a primadonna freakout over how it wasn't up to his standards and refused to continue

George Lucas pulling up to the Ste. Catherine lock on the St. Lawrence in the longest freighter you've ever seen: "Hey what the fuck y'all know about this?" [Plays "Early Morning Rain" so loud it causes Québécois 9/11]

so far everyone I've seen make the "actually Twitter's fine now! all the cool guys are there! the discussions are great!" argument is management-level in the tech industry, and yeah I can see thinking that considering all your bosses are exclusively there

of course what's behind all the "c'moooon guys we should all start posting on X again..." shit isn't any actual worry about the Bluesky community or ATproto or anything, it's just straight up "you ingrates don't respect my job enough so you don't deserve a place of your own"

looks like the current Hail Mary against James Talarico is that the couple days he spent out sick were actually an effete, woke mental health crisis where he had to be spirited out of state to a private hospital so Texans wouldn't see how much of a wuss he was

stumbled across a discussion elsewhere where a bunch of programmers were trying to one-up each other over how many tokens and agents and harnesses they used in the work and it's just genuinely disorienting to me why anyone thinks "I use more tools and burn more cash than you" is a flex

being on the educator/coach/facilitator side of these platforms is a massive headache too, I swear they're all designed by people who have never actually been on a sports team or had children

Parents and teachers are being crushed by the app avalanche. The kids are also frustrated — they get very little direct instruction on how to use the bewildering ed tech, but plenty of punishment for getting it wrong. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/10/05/l...

in one app, it is extremely easy for parents to accidentally make multiple accounts for their kids and then there's no clean way to rectify that on the admin side. in another, it required unique email addresses for each parent, which broke for a family with three participating siblings

I had to contact support to manually fix about a half dozen accounts that got desynced on the app provider's end and couldn't be reassociated with our organization no matter what I did, and a few accounts I had to set up by hand because the registration form just didn't work on their phones

last year for the drum corps I volunteer at, I had to manage the app that handles registrations and invoices, the app that manages forms, the background check app, the abuse compliance training app, a Slack, plus figuring out how to export info to import into the league's own internal platforms

so much of the elite political consensus in the US is that rural and exurban voters deserve unlimited veto power over policies that benefit cities because cities don't really count as America

The Atlantic@theatlantic.com

"Making day care free, while offering nothing to stay-at-home parents, appeals to the educated, urban, affluent voters who have come to make up the Democratic base, but not to the electorate at large," Marc Novicoff argues:

If anyone needs an example of how fucking weird the United States really is, here are some photos from a traveling show that sets up in school gyms and public places around the country that is just pictures of dead troops.
