"Journalists often use the words 'unsubstantiated' or 'uncorroberated' when referring to the allegations victims have levied against powerful men, like Trump. Instead of saying these women’s accounts are not corroborated, maybe it’s time we say they were not investigated in spite of clear patterns."

1. Not sure when a new, on-the-record rape allegation against a sitting president isn’t considered news — especially considering Trump was found liable by a jury in a similar case — but it was ignored by most mainstream media outlets

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

Many years ago some friends and I rented a cabin for a weekend to hang out and made sure to leave the place tidy and cleaned, but the owner said we trashed the place and started listing all the things we had broken and how much it was going to be to fix. It's just a fucking scam.

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

AI "artists" feel like people creating a machine that scores touchdowns because they see that's what wins football games, so that must be what people want. They can make the ball cross lines faster, but divorced of human effort, emotion, intention, achievement, and competition there is no point!!

The NYPD just released surveillance video of the ICE shooting (which occurred off camera). Two men in civilian clothes run up to a car with guns drawn. One second later, one man begins smashing the butt of his gun into the driver’s side window. The driver appears to panic and hit the gas.

can’t think of a better example of AI being mostly a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist also it can’t help when this is your user base

Just saw someone say their AI runs their fantasy football team and I can’t stop laughing. Like, I’m sure everyone’s doing it or something but it’s very funny to me that pretending to be a team manager was so hard that you needed to pretend to pretend to be a team manager

please see (a) above. this refers to your employer who is salivating at the prospect of, and whipping you to make it so that, this thing can replace you and they can go to the market and announce mass layoffs to make the stock go up. mass as in consumer

the problem is there is no mass demand for this. you didn't have to sell email. the sole demand is by loathed corporations who are either: (a) trying to fire you; or (b) trying to make a trillion dollars getting you fired. and for (a) they are having a hard time doing it still

The BEST thing that true believers in AI could do is stop evangelizing to people, like me, who think it sucks. Do the hard, years-long work of detaching your beloved technology from the worst people in the world right now: shameless fascists driven by greed and domination. They’re YOUR partners.
