hey i'm jess & i'm doing #portfolioday since some games i've been working on were recently announced! i'm a professor and narrative designer -- currently working with Red Thread Games on Hello Sunshine, and i've worked on other projects for them, Studio Chyr, Six to Start, Carnegie Hall, & more

i would’ve thought there’d very little baseball news that i would be interested in hearing today after the M’s loss last night. HOWEVER

Hear Say is one of the few digital games that evokes the same manic, giddy energy you tap into when you’re doing improv exercises. whoever directed this one did an incredible job 👀

🗣️ Ahh! This is the sound of me playing our next game, Hear Say! Use your voice to create silly sound effects with your friends that go right into the game as you play! It's coming to The Jackbox Party Pack 11 this fall! Wishlist now! 🔗 jbgm.es/4eeaczS youtu.be/hv7eLDfQlmE

if you’re trying to unionize and start to feel your momentum fading, take a beat to imagine what Bryce Harper would say in your position. it will reinvigorate you immediately

From Jeff Passan: Bryce Harper stood nose to nose with Rob Manfred and told him to “get the fuck out our clubhouse” if you want to talk about a salary cap: www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/...

so well said, & we need to resist the cultural norm that urges juniors to be endlessly deferential and accommodating. you deserve to be listened to & respected as much as anyone. in the immortal words of the seattle garages (blaseball): "no one you look up to is better than you are"

My beloved juniors, please take this advice to heart If you're invited along with industry professionals you admire, you don't need to put any effort into impressing them. You're doing just fine the way you are, everyone just wants to vibe. Partake in conversations just like you'd normally do.

Raleigh just barely scraping by the first round of the hr derby and then hitting more than two of his competitors combined in the second round is such a Mariner move. i won't talk about what the subsequent Mariner move would be however

idk how to tell you this but there are two frogs living in this shoe. i haven’t been able to get both of them in one shot yet but stay tuned for updates

i sometimes see this going around on july 4th which always feels strange to me bc Lyn Fireemblem would not say that. she would probably say something more based. pretty sure she didn’t even believe in borders

idk why so many gamedevs are posting about placeholder text rn but i will share the tip from publishing that our industry doesn’t use nearly enough: typing “tk” (shorthand for “to come”) in places where text is not final makes it quick & easy to locate in any searchable documents

i was a narrative designer on Hotel Infinity and can attest to the brilliance & excellence of both the game and everyone who worked on it. truly some of the coolest, cleverest level design i've ever seen! you don't want to miss it

WABC asked the mayoral candidates "Mets or Yankees?" Zohran Mamdani said "Mets", adding "I must admit I'm a bit of a fair-weather fan." Andrew Cuomo said "both."

And another - Dustborn, now with some good reviews after weathering a storm of right-wing grifters abusing the devs. An overtly queer anti-fascist road trip adventure through an alt-universe America. It's like a Telltale adventure (with lots of reactivity) with some light super-powered combat bits.

this notification is like ten days old but it reads like the Mariners are one massive guy whose limbs are made of smaller individual guys. “George Kirby (shoulder) and Logan Gilbert (elbow)” like if MLB teams were transformers. is this anything

blown away by how much good faith clair obscur builds w/ the player. people are (wrongly) saying the story doesn't hold your hand, when actually it looks you in the eye anytime things are confusing & says "yes, it's confusing. keep going." i'd expect this to grate after a while but somehow it didn't

i guess this is the difference between Letting The Player Be Confused and Affirming The Player’s Confusion — the former is less prescriptive, but the latter is actively encouraging. clair obscur’s choice to affirm confusion probably has a lot to do with its story’s success

i work on a game called Hello Sunshine. i am pre-ordering a graphic novel called Hello Sunshine (no relation other than they both seem great)

apple tv friday night baseball commentators explaining (lying) that Cal Raleigh has the second-highest stolen strike record because he's "big" and doesn't have to "move much" to frame pitches. when we all know it's really because he has honest sincere earnest sweetheart eyes that no ump can deny
