Had a good time on this show and I'm pretty sure I only got belligerent right at the end

So grateful to have been invited to speak at Stanford alongside @akashthakkar.com ! The folks at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics were some of the most enthusiastic, inventive people I've ever met. Can't wait to go back!

So I'm kinda bad about using this platform lately, but in the off chance anyone has recommendations: Going to NYC for a few days, staying on the Lower East Side. Anyone recommend good food/stuff to do? Got plenty on the list already but would love to add more

Man, Clair Obscur has so many little quality of life things I now never want to go without. For example, the way recovery items work like Estus flasks means I use them all the time instead of hoarding them for a boss I never end up spending them on.

OR you know the thing where stuff in your inventory is highlighted "new" until you view it, but then you accidentally select it for a split second while navigating to something else, and now it's marked "read" and you lose track? This game keeps it marked "new" unless you actually pause to read! 🙏

the fundamental disconnect between the manosphere and reality is that they are incapable of understanding that this is - according to every woman I’ve ever met - the sexiest thing a man has ever done

eight years ago today we all watched the glory of zendaya falling madly in love with tom holland and the internet was never the same

Sinners was so fucking good. I was expecting a fun vampire time, I was not expecting a movie with so much amazing stuff to say about what it means to make music, and what music can do. All the performances were out of control.

I think one of my fav things that happened at GDC this year was chatting with my fellow panelists before our talk and all of us agreeing that we have the same urge to eat the bath bombs at Lush

So I'm currently teaching a class on video game music at a local film music program. Students are all adults, mid 20a to 50+. Some have never played a video game in their lives and are asking for examples to help them learn more about the medium What games would you recommend?

I had an amazing time at #gdc meeting up with old friends, making new ones, giving a talk, and generally soaking up the energy of this incredible, creative community, but you'll have to extrapolate all that from the only photo I remembered to take

Very happy to be speaking at GDC again this year, with some very cool people. You should stop by, we'll have good advice (yes), industry horror stories (probably) and caramel apples (no).

Took me two minutes and it's worth doing. You can get the 5 Calls app if you want to make it easier, gives you your reps' numbers and a script to use if you want

KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN. ☎️: (202) 224-3121 Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid. The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING. Call retiring Senators too!

I have shared this story, this thread, before - but I think given the state of the world, it's worth telling once again. Maybe it can help, especially if like me, you make art, and you wonder what the use of all of it is right now.

🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave. Tell them: 1. Vote NO on Cloture AND 2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill. Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it. TODAY is the showdown. 🤳🏽: (202) 224-3121

I hate it when you get to the climactic final battle and you're just meeting the villain. They've just been some distant threat or prophecy until the last 50 pages. I want them to oppose the protagonists directly throughout a story, hand them their asses a few times first.

Also just a recommendation, I'm most of the way through this book and it rules. If you want an adventure story about a pirate muscle mommy that has similar adventure vibes to The Mummy, it's a good time.

Mai and/or Classic Controls practice is coming along. I got Cammy to Master on Modern controls last year, so dropping combos all the time is definitely something to get used to again, but still, progress! #StreetFighter

We're usually off in a hole somewhere recording ourselves making cow noises, or playing a big pipe organ like the Phantom. But also, there's a downside!

Make a profitable game but doesn't meet impossible financial expectations = laid off Make a ridiculously successful game that singlehandedly breathes new life into a genre = laid off Be forced into making a live service game that doesn't sell because of the live service model= laid off I am tired

I think one of the weirdest mundane things to happen to me in the last 2 years was getting into Street Fighter 6 after a lifetime of bouncing off fighting games. Feels really fun to have a thing to improve at that's not work-related at all. Like knitting, but a digital lady does a cool flip

Biggest surprise has been how much of my music-practicing skills transfer! Struggling with a combo and then breaking it down into smaller and smaller parts until it's manageable feels really similar to learning a difficult passage on an instrument.

Also, gotta say, having an intricate, complex, but reliable system to learn is a great diversion right now. Doing my best to stay aware of what's going on in Hellworld and help where I can, but at night playing a few matches is a great way to force my brain to look away from The Horrors for a bit.

Most of my life I assumed these weren't for me, or that you couldn't get good without a lifetime of experience and tons of free time, but having supportive friends to help onboard me has been huge. I've gotten pretty decent mostly practicing on my lunch breaks.
