Finally announcing our next game! DWG is built in my own game engine, Growl, and while it's hardly earth-shattering tech I'm really quite proud to be shipping something with it.

Bearwaves@bearwaves.com

We're announcing our new game! Dave's Word Game is a brand new daily word puzzle. We've been building it over the last year and we think it's really fun. We're releasing it for free, on iOS and Android, on December 15th. Give us a follow to see more updates, we'll be sharing more very soon!

Hello, we are humbly asking for your help as a tiny indie studio of currently 2 people! We are trying to get eyes on our latest game since we do not have a presence on Xitter, and we are up against a deluge of AI slop during NextFest: #indiegame #gamedev store.steampowered.com/app/5103900/...

If you haven't played our first game, Feud, it's totally free on mobile and PC and I think it's excellent. I tend to kind of memory hole projects after I start the next one but going back to Feud recently has reminded me: the reason it took so long to make is because it is good

Bearwaves@bearwaves.com

We haven't forgotten Feud! New update coming soon with some fixes.

The “Youngman” referred to in the song YMCA is a reference to a character in Death Stranding 3. He is immune to timefall. He is played by Wes Anderson doing a Belgian accent for no discernible reason. He eats metal

Oh dang, I'm the pull quote in this. Every day is a new experience eh

The macOS built-in curl, git, pip, python3, perl, ruby, and openssl all read /etc/ssl/cert.pem, which still has the emSign root, but they don't check revocation like Apple's Secure Transport libraries. This is, uh, a problem. git and pip especially. I added a short-term workaround to this page.

🚨 Six WebPKI Intermediate CAs are compromised. This is bigger than Heartbleed, but a client-side issue. Anything that verifies certificates against public roots, like most TLS clients, is/was affected. Details, live test, patched versions and workarounds at emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com Act now.

just to offer a perspective I've not seen much of On Here: I work in codev, I'm not in the "core team". I'm an employee of a codev studio. I am a full time employee with all the legal benefits that entails. I also have better job security than I might at a studio. It's pretty great. I like my job!

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

maybe I'm reading the room wrong here and i'm sorry if so but I guess my point is some folks on here seem to view outsourcing as sort of inherently evil and it is not imo (provided that labour is part of a grouping that can represent their interests ofc, be that a codev outfit, a union or other)

For no reason whatsoever I’m rereading what I wrote a month ago and trying to find that optimism again

I kind of crashed out this week. Generative AI has made a lot of my hobbies and creative endeavours feel pointless, when I'm not in a good headspace. I had a good conversation with a friend that helped, so I wrote about it, so I can read it when it happens again. www.joelotter.com/posts/2026/0...

pisses me off how ever since ai can make websites, every website for "small open source indie app" and "community database" looks like this and you can just TELL they all used the same ai to vibe code it

it's bad

Will@will.bearwaves.com

all the avenues for outreach as an indie dev are dead now and its fuckin depressing all the subreddits have imploded over the last month because they are overwhelmed by or unwilling to ban slop Next fest is flooded with slop tiktok etc are a massive time and energy drain with low conversion
