Uber just announced it will lay off 10% of its workforce, or around 3,300 workers. Last year, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi made $35M — 360 times his median employee's pay — and announced a $20B stock buyback program to further enrich shareholders and himself. Textbook corporate greed.

We are projected to spend $268 BILLION on deportations — costing the average American taxpayer about $2,358 (according to @epi.org). But somehow we “can’t afford” to make sure hungry children can eat or ensure everyone, no matter their income, can access healthcare. Priorities.

Denmark just passed a law that every person owns a copyright to their own face, voice, and body. In the age of AI, this places more legal control in a person's hands, and there are real, large consequences and fines for breaking this law. We need to make this worldwide. Use: interactink.vercel.app

@alastaircampbell2.bsky.social If Burnham annouces this he will lose Labour's left flank to the Green's and LibDems on his first day in office. How does this politically (let alone morally) make sense? It's mindboggeling how centrists dont understand this. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Hard to think of a more deeply damaging start to Burnham’s premiership than giving green light to new oil & gas in N. Sea, if true. It won’t lower bills or lead to greater energy security but will drive an even hotter planet. What a terrible signal to give to rest of the world #ClimateVandalism

"Heat pumps just shift gas burning to the power station." Wrong. Even if 100% of electricity came from gas, a heat pump at SCOP 3.8 uses 51% less gas than a boiler. At a terrible SCOP 2.5, still 25% less. David MacKay made this point in 2008. The maths hasn't changed.

If we’re serious about clean energy, we need to fix electricity prices. Right now, the gas vs electricity gap is holding back heat pumps, EVs and more. In ep 4 of the Policy Fix podcast, our guests break down the policy levers behind electrification. 🎧: https://bit.ly/41K0PSY
