every one of you who wasn't alive for the 2000 election, this is exactly what it was like

I promise i meant to say this before the NBA’s ruling, but the amount of NBA media members who were willing to hold the Clippers water and went at Pablo Torre after the bogus ESPN report was fairly gross and shocking

And most of all we’re blessed to have this amazing/sprawling network of over a thousand contributors and almost 200 communities to build something special with. See you in the app tomorrow!

When we started down this path, we were responding to how toxic and un-fun the conversation had gotten on social. After we relaunched our websites last year, we increasingly heard from fans who were exhausted to see AI worming its way into other fan spaces.

We want to be an alternative to all that, and our users are rewarding us. In the year since we relaunched out websites, engagement has been up 20%. When you give people a way to come together around the team or the sport they care about and cut out the noise, they’re happy to do it.

Our network of web communities has been iterating on that model one community at a time for decades, and now the app allows our users to come together in one place.

Anyone who is reading this on the Bluesky app rather than the web understands why this is an improvement: the conversations are smoother, the push alert for replies is immediate and the feel of a live game chat is faster and more focused when you’re in an app built for that purpose.

This is an app for people who care deeply about their team or their sport: Who are thinking about it all day, want to be reading and watching film about it all day and want to talk about it with people.

Polymarket offered me enough money to pay my rent for ten months for one post in my newsletter and I turned it down because I enjoy being able to sleep at night.
