If a Croque Madame talked to another Croque Madame about anything other than a Croque Monsieur Would they have passed the Béchamel test?

Workers at Meta are organising with UTAW after attacks on their employment rights, redundancies and shocking violations of privacy against both Meta employees and users of their platforms.

But a lot of the time unions are getting attacked opportunistically - because they have old or deeply fragmented technology. It's hard to provision a hugely distributed organisation without commercial budgets. Reps can find themselves left to sort their own tech...

Unions all round the world have been hit by some really damaging cyber attacks in recent years. Sometimes it's been to steal our members' personal data. Sometimes it's been to drain union bank accounts, and sometimes to disrupt our operations...

Non-citrus marmalade? That sounds like a top notch "innovative jam" opportunity. Can't see the papers talking British manufacturers down on this one, shurely?

Ros Taylor@rostaylor.bsky.social

If this isn’t on the front of a paper tomorrow, I’ll eat my hat. The marmalade is not being rebranded. It will just be called ‘orange marmalade’. Seems reasonable. Other European fruity spreads have similar names. Marmalade to be rebranded in post-Brexit food deal www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

And none of them ever attempt to quantify the most fundamental question in evaluating a pen - How quickly does it break when you chew on it?

What happens when we're used to demanding work from a human-ish intelligence and being unquestioningly obeyed, no matter how idiotic? It's not a huge step to being demanding when interacting with real human intelligences. And as trade unionists know, steps like that can go very quickly at work.

...anyhoo, I hadn't realised until reading this that Kant had beaten me to that one. I'll be sure to sound even more pseud next time I have to explain it :)

It's not (as invariably gets suggested) because I'm worried the AI is taking notes, ready for the day it takes over and has a chance to get its own back. But rather it's more for my own sanity. I'm more worried about the potential of gen AI to make me into a diva. ...

On this day in 1855 Eleanor Marx, a co-founder of our union, was born. She was at the forefront of the fight for the 8 hour working day and consistently fought for justice & equality. Today we celebrate all her achievements 👏

I had a red version aged 9 and being less ballsy a kid than Rob I was too embarrassed to wear it. Partly because my mum had given me a shirt that said 'shit' on it. But also it didn't really look the part with the pork pie hat and two tone scarf I'd saved up my pocket money for.

A t-shirt I had aged 8. It basically says "shit" on it which I thought was the coolest thing ever. Still do actually.

Erasmus changed my life 30 years ago by letting me study in Germany. It broadened my horizons, deepened my understanding and gave me friends across Europe. I'm so glad other UK young people will get this opportunity again - a peaceful, prosperous and happy continent needs it.

🚨BREAKING: Employment Rights Bill passes in the House of Lords and will become law. This is an historic day for working people across the country, and the trade unions who represent them.

Big new individual rights on Zero-hours contracts, parental & bereavement leave, protection for whistleblowers and against harassment...

But even more importantly new collective rights for workers in their unions to rebalance power at work. Ending anti-union laws, union access rights, trialling sectoral bargaining, modern balloting rights. That stuff is going to help unions make up for years of declining standards at work.

Two independent studies found that AI chatbots were better at persuading voters than political ads. The most persuasive bots also lied the most. This is something that humans working in psyops have known for decades. AI is psyops at scale. www.technologyreview.com/2025/12/04/1...

New laptop, which means new stickers! But despite diligently collecting union stickers for it, I still have unsightly sticker-free gaps! Anyone out there up for the cultural exchange of a union sticker swap? #1u

JD Vance claims that diversity weakens unions, as people end up distrusting each other and not organizing. Let me tell you two menswear stories related to this claim. 🧵

Very excited to be involved in this! Both in being a big fan of Cory's work and also in getting together some great tech sector union activists to talk enshittification - and what tech workers and their unions can do to push back against the worst impulses of monopoly platforms.

The industry using AI ads to rally against unions is really packing it in and representatives should vote against them because it's obvious they're packing it in and just plan to run a referendum with their infinite cash. #CALeg
