My wife and I were talking with our daughter last night, who goes to Smith College and has friends at Cornell. She said that she has sometimes wondered whether an all-women's college was the right choice, but now she loves that Smith has given her so much space to be indifferent to men.

The dystopian sci-fi series “Bitch Planet” (2014-17) is written by Kelly Sue DeConnick with primary art by Valentine De Landro. It offers a feminist twist on exploitation films while showcasing the power of comics to speak back to power, reframing languages of objectification. 1/8 #ComicsStudies

Frederick Douglass, 1857: Those who profess to favor freedom yet deprecate agitation want crops without plowing the ground; they want rain without thunder + lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its waters. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.

"The thing about populists is that most of the time, the people who base their entire political brands on appealing to “real Americans,” the “working people,” the “common man,” the “forgotten men and women of America” are actually egomaniacs who disdain the rubes they trick into supporting them."
