I’ve changed my header photo to this one. It shows my father Herbert and his sister Lotte with their parents Fritz and Marta in their Frankfurt apartment before Herbert and Lotte were sent to England on the Kindertransport, and later Fritz and Marta transported to Lodz Ghetto, final fate unknown.

Nebbish.

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Looks like Trump needs a refresher course at Perky Political Banter School.

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

Saw this on the canal yesterday. Merlin tells me it’s an Egyptian goose. Looks like a child’s impression of a colourful duck.

The Economist indulging in playground insults? Classy.

The chancellor resembles a hapless coach at a football club whose megalomaniac chairman picks the team each week. How long can this “bald fraud” prosper? bit.ly/4icXOm1 Illustration: Nate Kitch

Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."

Serbia finally got rid of Vučić, just like Hungary got rid of Orbán a few months ago. It's always encouraging to see, especially as both were supported by both the Kremlin and the White House, and still lost pathetically

What is true is that in their early platforms in the 1920s the Nazis strongly advocated for workers’ rights (how else do you get the workers on your side?) But of course they never came close to delivering. Remind you of anything?

I saw that ad and expected Alexa to say ‘That’s because of the structural injustice of monopoly capitalism that puts intolerable time pressure on everyone making them juggle multiple tasks and roles to serve the insatiable need for profit of the billionaire caste.’

The enormity of the Spurs win at Chelsea yesterday was brought home to me by my brother saying it’s only the second time it’s happened since Maggie Thatcher.

Unexpected pleasure. I once asked for an online quote for repairing a hole in a sweater. I seem signed up to their mailing list which shows me their ‘repair of the week’. This week a hand-embroidered rose on a Burberry bag with unremovable stain.
