Listening to White Coat, Black Art & 💔 to listen to story of a son’s death. Drunk driver! Why hasn’t government created a policy to have AUTO INDUSTRY install Ignition Interlock in every vehicle?! Bigger screens rather than public health policy!

Canada’s Wonderland says 2 roller-coasters “will remain closed for the time being” were shut down due to deadly incident at a park in Atlanta. Huh. People die on our public streets all the time BUT after a short closure to “investigate” - the street is open again asap. No charge to the design.

We recorded an episode today about the bike lane removals in Toronto and decided to text Ontario Premier Doug Ford to give him the opportunity to comment. (Yes, we have his real phone number.) He wrote back.

It has been brought to our attention that it is entirely possible Doug Ford does not understand that a podcast called "The War on Cars" might be in favor of things like protected bike lanes.

What makes cycling infrastructure so amazing is the fact that you don’t have to ride a bike to benefit from it. Getting into and off of buses become problematic for anyone with mobility issues. But the perceived convenience of drivers overrules everything. #BikeTO

Please remember these moments when we hear authorities preaching road safety to our kids or thoughts and prayers to those families who have lost someone to road violence.

Toronto is not having it.

One thing about people citing slower car travel times on Bloor West following the bike lane install is, well, that was kind of the point. Drivers were **averaging** nearly 20 km/h over the current speed limit at spots. Road revamp has brought speeds closer to limit. www.toronto.ca/wp-content/u...

In Toronto we've watched police ignore traffic violations for many years (they even lied about enforcing traffic laws - with no consequences) so this is basically the renaissance painting of the Toronto condition.

ER doctors are on side: some 650 of them signed a petition to stop Ford from removing bike lanes, saying - as we do in every protest - "bike lanes save lives." You'd think this would be a simple thing. What a ridiculous culture war our premier has created. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Enjoyed reading this collection of poetry in, well, various cafés. It was good for a quick dip and will stand up to multiple re-readings. Café as place, as a verb, as a state of mind, as a dreamscape. Interesting section inspired by Brief Encounter. Another quirky @fitzcarraldoeds.bsky.social

#BikeToWork route is Jane & Bloor to Danforth & Broadview on protected bike lanes ~ comfortable & direct - 15km one way is reliable 1 hr ride. When I use TTC icy days - I use a bus, train, & streetcar = 1 1/2hr if all on time with waits outdoors in cold without shelter 🎥 from yesterday Sept17

"Councillor Bradford wants you to be scared," says Chow. "Police is not the only answer," she adds, citing her work to hire more crisis outreach workers. "It's the combination of police and all the outreach workers coming together to keep us safe."

"Councillor Bradford, I don't understand, because I saw you voting against shelters. You cannot say that you support shelters and then vote against it! That is not fair," says Chow. (Bradford does have a bunch of anti-shelter votes on his record.)

Hey #BikeTO! There will be a #CriticalMass ride on Friday, August 28. Details to follow, but there will be a need to ensure a huge turnout given Friday's disappointing Ontario Court of Appeal decision in favour of the Ford government regarding Bill 212. #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.

Adam Pham is Back to Basics: vision includes “enhanced public safety” “enhanced police presence” “make it easier for cars to access High Park” “restoring lanes for cars along Bloor St W creating a better alternative bike lane” “It’s time for Toronto to blossom 🌸 “ by going back to basics … nope.
