Today in @thenation.com: a harrowing piece written from inside the Dilley ICE detention center by Maryam Tahmasebi, a green card holder who's been locked up along with her husband and son for months despite none of them committing any crime. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

So many questions here: Why are their weapons drawn? Why 20+ agents? Arrested for peaceful protest?

ICE detain U.S. Army veteran—a 50 year old woman with major health issues. 20 plus armed agents stormed this residential neighborhood to arrest her at gunpoint. Her crime? Kate just took part in a peaceful protest—evidently her 5 foot tall stature intimidated these agents. Minneapolis, Minnesota

If you’re having a bad day at work today, take comfort in knowing there are world leaders trapped in a Board of Peace meeting with an insane pedophile.

I have criticized The Times for not covering this so I should point out: Here is The Times actually covering it.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

Social media posts from the White House, Department of Labor and Department of Homeland Security have included images, slogans and even a song associated with far-right extremist groups.

Switch out Bovino and Miller and Kristi Noem and whoever else is most deserving of your repugnance, and you’re still left with a mad king in the White House, who replaces Bovino in Minnesota with new muscle: the villainous Tom Homan." -David Kurt, Talking Points Memo

Congress is not powerless. Democrats must unify around an actual agenda. 1. Vote no on DHS funding bill. 2. Repeal the multi-year $75 billion funding for ICE. 3. End qualified immunity for ICE agents. 4. Investigate and prosecute every single ICE agent who broke the law.

Yes.

"This is moral injury that we're living through. They still have an active federal investigation into the wife of Renee Good. And that is demented shit right there." - @governorwalz.mn.gov Watch his full conversation with @timmiller.bsky.social on today's Bulwark Podcast.

Abolishing ICE is not enough. They must be publicly identified. They must be prosecuted. They must be punished. Justice must be served.

I'm not sure Democrats in D.C. are aware that their base's rage against ICE has reached a level of blinding white-hot intensity. They're worried about "looking weak" for voting "against law enforcement" when they should be worried a mob of housewives is going to come beat them to death if they do.

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him. White. Hot. Rage.

ANOTHER ANGLE. This man was NOT brandishing a firearm. He was holding his phone. He then put his body between ICE thugs and woman. He was then sprayed with a chemical agent, tackled, disarmed, and executed. Plain as day. DO NOT let them tell you otherwise.

The ENTIRETY of the blame for this is on Trump, Miller, Noem and ALL of the elected Republicans that enable and defend their crimes on a daily basis.

Allison Gill@muellershewrote.com

To those blaming Walz for not mobilizing the Guard, he did that six days ago. I have to say it's disturbing to see people angry at Walz instead of the government agents that just executed a man. As though we should all be experts about what to do when a secret police force invades an American city.

Need unambiguous statements of support by everyone — from Walz and Klobuchar and Smith to Schumer and Jeffries— for state and city law enforcement standing up to lawless DHS.

SUPPORT MINNESOTA AND WALK OUT TOMORROW JAN 23. This is intolerable and frightening.

I keep seeing leftists from outside of Minneapolis say they’ve seen all this before, and no, you haven’t. I’ve been at this for 30+ years and I haven’t either. It’s not what you’re picturing. This is something else

I try to avoid hyperbole when it comes to Trump policies, but this is absolutely frickin’ insane—on about eleventy different levels. Massive, systemic Fourth Amendment violations because … reasons.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

ICE secretly told its officers that any time someone has been ordered removed, ICE can break down their door. It has been accepted for generations that the only thing which can authorize agents to break into your home is a warrant signed by a judge. No wonder ICE hid this memo!
